Giant Loop’s Pannier Mounts have been updated for 2019 with a few key changes, particularly in pricing.
For 2019, the GL Pannier Mounts carry a $50 lower MSRP, set at $249 for standard mounts and $299 for the mounts with BMW GS Adventure adapters.
First introduced for 2018, the Pannier Mounts are basically adapter plates for soft luggage, that allow the same measure of quick detachment as hard panniers. But, they’re also designed to be versatile as well as convenient. They’re specifically designed to work with Giant Loop’s soft side bags, (Round The World and MotoTrekk saddlebags), but will also fit other brands of soft luggage as well, if you’re up for a little adaptation. Strap slots in the Pannier Mounts allow you to loop webbing around just about any soft of soft bag, as well as water or fuel cans.
The Giant Loop mounts will fit a wide variety of aftermarket luggage racks, as long as the racks have vertical tubing in the 16-18mm range. Giant Loop says the Pannier Mounts are compatible with Adventure Moto X-Frames, Givi Outback, Touratech, KTM Powerparts (1090, 1190, 1290), and Outback Motortek pannier racks.
The mounts lock to the tubing with a locking cam-style anchor clasp, and the mounts can be removed without reaching inside motorcycle luggage.
The attachment hardware that mounts to the rack tubing is stainless steel, for longevity. The mounting plates themselves are made of aluminum, to keep weight down; total weight of the mounting kit, with all components including four matching keys, is under four pounds; the lock and clasp mechanisms are the only moving parts.
