GoPro made a name for themselves making cameras that waterproof and shockproof and able to take a real beating, all while delivering gold standard image quality and they remain the gold standard for documenting epic adventure rides. The company has announced a new line of waterproof bags, backpacks, and cases, as well as an intriguing subscription plan called GoPro PLUS.
Firstly GoPro PLUS. This $5/month subscription service includes a no questions asked replacement program for up to two damaged cameras per year. Trading in a camera incurs a fee, which we imagine is required to ensure people are not dropping cameras off tall buildings in order to get a brand new replacement. The fee for the latest GoPro HERO 8 Black is $79 (it retails new for around $350). If a replacement is required, the customer will be sent a return shipping label. This seems like an excellent deal if you ride in rough, wet, or muddy offroad terrain with side-mounted cameras.
GoPro PLUS also includes unlimited cloud storage for videos at original resolutions. If recording long trips, it is not hard to fill multiple 128gb or 256gb Micro SD cards making this a good deal with adventure riders.
Another benefit of the subscription is discounts on GoPro’s new gear line, ranging from 30% to 50%. The new line of gear is rugged and weather-resistant or waterproof, and when appropriate include mounts for GoPro camera. The GoPro Stash pictured below is a lightweight roll stop backpack with a hydration bladder compartment and a GoPro camera shoulder mount.
If you need full waterproofing then the GoPro Storm DRY bag has you covered. It features fully welded waterproofing, 35l capacity, and a GoPro mount on comfortable shoulder straps.
