Honda is repeating its Honda Adventure Roads series in 2019 and this time it will feature South Africa. Starting in Durban the trek crosses through Lesotho, the Karoo desert region, the Sani and Swartberg passes ending at the Cape of Good Hope. The route covers 3,736 kilometers during its 12 planned stages.
Since the route contains roads and trails that range in difficulty from medium to tough, participants must be at least an intermediate level rider. Honda says that the participants’ riding skills will be put to the test. To ensure that your abilities meet the requirements of the planned terrain, Honda will check your riding proficiency before the trip.
Honda has opened the event to all Africa Twin and “Honda big on-off” road motorcycles. They will arrange transportation of your bike to Durban. If you don’t want to ship your own bike, Honda will make “rental” bikes available at no extra charge.
If you’d like to improve your skills along the way, Honda has arranged to have Dakar Rally competitor Joan Barreda and Ignacio Cornejo to come along for the ride to share their skills and experience.
The 2019 Honda Adventure Roads event will take place between 1st and 14th of March. The price for each participant is € 7,400. This price includes accommodations, meals, fuel, tolls, satellite phone (for emergencies) transportation to and from the airport to the hotel, luggage transport, Honda assistance truck with a mechanic, medical assistance, extracurricular activities such as safaris and training events with HRC rally riders.
