At least two major manufacturers will attend EICMA 2021 from 23 – 28 November.  Multiple outlets are reporting that both Honda and Royal Enfield will attend this year’s exhibition in Milan, Italy.

Honda to attend

According to Motociclismo, Honda says that it plans to attend.  However, their attendance is conditional.  The Japanese manufacturer says that it will monitor COVID-19 health developments in a statement:

“…obviously, to monitor health developments linked to the Covid-19 pandemic and to look with confidence at the continuous progress of vaccination proposals and their spread. A concrete and conscious approach to protect the value of the event, the public and the entire supply chain involved, which is engaging the structure of Eicma SpA and the houses to face the complexity of the organization of the event in a constantly developing context.”

Royal Enfield attending

Royal Enfield is the other manufacturer that says it will attend.  The brand will celebrate its 120th anniversary this year.  And a stand at EICMA seems to be a good way to do it.

Arun Gopal, Royal Enfield’s Head of International Business said:

We at Royal Enfield are delighted to be a part of EICMA 2021 and are incredibly excited about the opportunity to connect with the wider motorcycle community after such a busy time for everyone.  EICMA provides the perfect platform to interact with thousands of passionate riders, to share exciting brand news and developments, and to embrace all the reasons we love to ride. 2021 is a pivotal year for Royal Enfield as it marks our 120th anniversary, so we look forward to sharing this important milestone with as many of you as safely and as possible. ”

It’s nice to see that some manufacturers still see the value in trade shows to promote their brands.  But other manufacturers may never return.  BMW Motorrad has said that the future is digital.  They have already scrapped their plans to attend both EICMA and INTERMOT in 2021.

Are moto shows dead or dying?

As we get closer to November, it will be interesting to see which brands attend and which don’t.  Do you think motorcycle shows are dead? Or will most manufacturers come back in 2021?  Let us know in the comments below.
