Honda is recalling its 2019 CRF450L dual-sport bikes due to a faulty horn mount. Honda says that the horn mount may break allowing the horn to detach from the motorcycle.
The unsecured horn could then interfere with the motorcycle’s operation and affect handling and control. They also note that if the horn becomes completely detached, it may become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.
The US recall is under the auspices of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Campaign Number 19V703000.
A total of 4,348 motorcycles are subject to this recall.
Honda will notify owners of affected machines. Dealers will replace the horn and mount free of charge.
NHTSA says the recall is expected to begin on December 2, 2019. In the interim, owners of the affected bikes may contact Honda Customer Service at 1-866-784-1870 and cite recall number KK4.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to NHTSA’s website; www.safercar.gov.
