Rally Dakar 2021 is set to start on January 3rd, 2021, and if you’re planning to follow the race, you know it isn’t that easy: taking place in Saudi Arabia, Dakar is harder to follow as there are less die-hard fans physically chasing the race, and the media crews, as always, mainly focus on the top factory riders. So what can you do, and what’s the best way to follow Rally Dakar 2021?
The Dakar App
Before the race begins, head on over to Google Play and download the Dakar app. It’s far from perfect, but the app allows you to see the route, the location of the bivouac, and the results for each day; you can get all of this information on the Dakar website, sure, but the app makes it more accessible.
Follow the Riders On Social Media
Who are your favorite riders in this Dakar edition? Hunt down their social media accounts: not all riders have media people to update their Instagram or Facebook pages, and not all of them will be posting regularly, but you can still glean a little of what it’s like from the posts that do appear. Better yet, send your favorite riders messages on Instagram – again, they may not be able to read them daily, but when they do, trust me, they appreciate the support.
Watch it on TV
Very few channels will be showing the race or reporting regularly, but do check the Dakar web page for their official media partners and see if you can watch the race on TV in your country.
Stay Tuned on ADV Rider
When Rally Dakar 2021 begins, we will be posting regular updates here on ADV Rider on a daily basis. We may not have boots on the ground in Saudi Arabia this time, but we will be talking to our sources, catching up with riders, and keeping you posted as much as we can!
