Never had to reserve for a motorcycle and have always got on the main lower mainland ferries to Vancouver Island.

Deuce is the expert in this thread, but I would think that obviously your reserved trip is covered. Your trip back to the mainland Thursday should be fine if you show up early. Friday, the margin for issue is more if no reservation. Again, I show up sure early for everything, and see no good reason to show up at the edge of the clock for a seat and parking spot on a ship. I guess it's up to you if you feel lucky.

i always enjoy witnessing the the aloofness of the BMW crowd, when in the ferry line up.
    it's great entertainment.

Maybe they're just wary of a guy who yells at clouds?

I perhaps have the most awareness of this phenomenon. As a BMW owner, I witness it even more. There is interaction amongst BMW owners . If I show up at the line up on one of my other bikes, even my airhead, dressed exactly the same, it’s the classic stone face of self anointed superiority. I guess if you’re going to spend better part of $36,000 on a gsa, that’s where it’s at.

Being an American who has used BC Ferries quite a bit (with and without bikes), i gotta say, they're impressive. The views alone (for me) are well worth the price of admission; last time crossing at Campbell river, we actually followed a lone Oraca! Recently i got to try it with a bike, and the level of service and priority placement was beyond enjoyable; made me feel special to be on a bike :-)

Yes, they're not the Queen Mary by any means, but for transportation and services, I've always been happy with by 'voyages'.

Come to NYC and sample the Staten Island Ferry some day. big, ugly orange battle ships with disgusting bathrooms and food! You'll make a beeline back to BC in an instant!!

Depends on which milk company you took it from. I’m partial to those Avalon Dairy ones.

The BC ferry system is very good. And it meanders between many scenic ports and islands. Hard to compare it with a 5 minute ferry to transport as many people as possible across one of the busiest harbours in the world.

Another question, we are trailering to the terminal in Tsawassen and I’m trying to find somewhere to leave the car and trailer parked for the week. Is there term parking at the ferry terminal?

Yes. I've parked my truck there for 5 days, unloaded my motorcycle, and ridden onto ferry to Swartz Bay.

Never been myself. My girlfriend has school chums there, sounds like a free and easy commune life is possible, lots of ganja, lots of tofu, kinda stuff.

What! I could be wrong, but I think that it is used by truckers. Pretty sure that I've parked my semi there before...might be worth a phone call to the Tsawassen location...

I tried to call but no answer. In the end a friend got back to me and we can leave the car at his place in Ladner, problem solved!
