Had my stanchions capped on Friday, and the computer flashed for the first time. I like how it changed the way the Nav V reads.

How did it change the Nav V? I had my stanchions done 6 months ago and did not think to ask them to hook it up for an update. Hmmm.

Now the trip meter screen is a part of the click through menus instead of having to go to aps to find it.

Thank you. I wondered where that screen went as I have only seen it seemly when the bike is stopped but not one of the 4 options with the wonder wheel. I'll have to ask for that at the 6k service in a month or so..

Finally had the recall done on my forks today, along with the rear reflector recall. Took about 90 minutes in total. I had been called by my dealer (Morton's) before Christmas to say they had the parts in, but this was my first opportunity to get them done. Interestingly, I never received a letter from BMW for either of these recalls, even though they would show up if I punched my VIN into BMW NA's website.

I understand my '17 has both recalls open, per a call to the selling dealer. I only got the reflector letter, nothing on the forks from bmw. Running the clamps until I have a chance to get the recall done.

Took my '14 GSA in the other day for the collars and the tech found a gap in the right stanchion. They had to order two new stanchions as they'd just serviced some US Army bikes. Rode mine home today.

I don't know. I was there the other day when some JFK School for Wayward Boys graduates showed up with four very well used GSs. They were out of Fr. Bragg.

Does anyone know if the press fit bush collar used for the recall will fit the "new" fork tubes on the 2018 GSA. I'm about to become a first time GSA owner, picking up a 2018 GSA TB at the end of February (build date in Jan. 2018). I've read most of this thread and there seems to be some concern that the new tubes are still pretty thin walled near the circumferential crimp and thus may still suffer from possible deformation and movement. I'm wondering if it makes sense to get the collar installed if it fits (or use a stanch clamp or the Lone Rider Claw (https://www.lonerider-motorcycle.com/products/the-claw)).

I saw a 2018 GS at my dealer on Thursday, while bushings were being fitted on my 2015. The new bike had no bushings whatsoever.

Are you sure? The 2018 does not qualify for a collar, nor is it supposed to need one.

+1 - My 2017 GSA was assembled in Mid July 2017 and has the factory fix. So it doesn’t require the collars and is not part of the recall.

Strange my GS was made 5-29-17 (17.5) and needed the "fix". Strange that yours did not need it. It was reported they change over to the next model year in August. So they must have retooled the crimp before the start of the new model year?

I am not the least bit upset at all. If it was not done I would run the clamps I ran on my 15 RT. Need to put those up for sale in more areas come to think of it. Would like to see them used as they are very nice.

My friends 18 was told he did not need the "fix" as the crimps were redesigned for 18.

Like I said I am not upset at all and feel better with the extra material and clamping force. Doesn't eat anything, and really is not too hard on the eyes.
