Given I have one on order and we've seen the launch, I thought it might be time to start one for the 1290 SA S version. :)

The current 1290 SA thread would still be appropriate to the T model and anything that is applicable to all 3, so I think this one should be for S specifics.

If it turns out there is not much difference I suppose it can be scrapped/merged. ;)

A nice pic from Bosch's web site, I really wish KTM would release all the media that Bosch seem to have on the bike!

Seeing this only makes the waiting even more painful. ;)

I'd prefer a black alloy style brake reservoir rather than the "urine pot" though. But I suppose this is lighter and cheaper to replace. I'll just put a black wrist band around it like I do on the Multi.

The "urine" color of the brake fluids will disappear in a few weeks (will not say in a few days because i might exaggerate) and will turn black anyway.
So the solution is either to wait :-) or install the brake fluid reserv. in black with article 61313029000 (press here to see how it looks like)

It's more the look of the pot than the contents that I don't like. ;)

Thanks for the link, the smoked one looks much better.

Yikes, I'm getting flashbacks of the last time I saw Bruce D on stage now! He does seem to like his wrist bands!;)

Thanks, probably a little too much "bling" for me. I like the stealth look, so I'll probably just go for plain black. ;)

... or turn those inside out as presumably the size is right.

Any chance you can get out on one and post a video and/or thoughts?

Here's a bigger version of my avatar pic showing the likely config I'll go for assuming the price is right.

Eye of the beholder and all that, I think it has a "functional elegance" about it and to me it looks nicer than the Multi.

Like a lot of bikes, it likely looks nicer in person too.

So, does anyone see any differences (other than the nose and wheels) versus the current 1290? The airbox in particular, any obvious change from the outside? 159646_KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE 90 stripped MY 2017.jpg

Nope, they kept it, just for this pic the plastics have been removed. I do doubt KTM would have changed anything bar the electronics........it's time to make money and no one else on the market has brought us anything better.......

Well, buying the latest is the buyer's business. But, Like the last 10 bikes I've purchased, I've watched "updated models" occur and although, in most cases it does represent small improvements, I improve what I've got and enjoy the experimentation and aftermarketing. My 1290 SA has been improved in so many ways, it would be against my values to just off it and replace it. Why switch a bike out for a replacement JUST WHEN you get your existing scooter dialed in just for you? There's a cool book out there entitled "How to Want What You Already Have". I think it's a fun path and when I'm done with my SA, it will have been well ridden!

Agreed @Raedog. I'm changing as the current bike is "not doing it" for me. ;)
