    Mine wouldn't go above 6200 rpm that was the limit until first service, at my service i know they changed the oil /filter and topped up coolant, then the software to unleash the rest of the rpm

    certainly felt more free revving after service
    but then again i came straight off an XR1000 which lived in the 10k range:D so might be perception rather than fact:lol3

    My 1290 t had definitely limited power until the 1000km service. The difference was huge...

Nothing special on the sound, it sounds very similar to the stock exhaust with that E4 compliant baffle installed. I then took the rear sound suppressor off and it now sounds like an aftermarket exhaust, but not too abnoxious.

    Soggy,

    I also adjusted the pegs, shift lever up and the handle bars like you suggested and then re-clocked mirrors and hand guards and the bikes fits much better and I can now see behind me with the mirrors. Makes me wonder why I paid dealer $500 for a set-up fee. :muutt

    Here’s where the bars worked good for me...

    The holes in the carbon parts were a little to small..

    The lower parts has a edge in it, wich was not on the carbon one;

    And the top part needen some more room between te subframe and fender;

    Did the exhaust with come with a carbon heel guard, or is that it? There’s a lot of exposed exhaust there.

    Rich,

    I was thinking the same thing. The instructions show a really nice large wrap around carbon guard, but what they sent was that little stainless steel piece. I did do a good leak check before installing the small guard. That’s why that little rubber/plastic hammer is on the ground. I was tapping the clamp in multiple areas to get it seated and then re-torquing the clamp. I did that about 3-4 times before starting the bike. No leaks at all, but if it does leak I’m worried about my wife’s little feet on that aft foot peg.

    Probably the carbon guard is extra and they don't tell you apparently - maybe contact them and ask, it really looks poor/naked compared to the very nice can, which is not good for their reputation either IMO.

    I'm sure it (the metal piece) looks fine on a GS with it's meccano/tractor rear end looks though. ;)

    Edit:

    The 8s all seem to have the metal piece looking at these pics, the other style has the nice carbon cover, the instructions are probably generic/copied from the old one and they forgot to change the picture maybe, it still looks odd/wrong IMO:

    I'm in the same boat -have 33.41 and new dash after they fried the last one last year . Had DRL and now noticed it's disappeared. May get the upgrade to 33.50 but fearful as i'm told new dash's are 4 week delivery. Can't say the day/night screen switching bothers me that much. Are there any other supposed benefits of 33.50?

    It seems odd that it’s not included. You could always get the headers ceramic coated, like mine! :D

    LOL -exactly! -perhaps it's a 'now you have it now you don't' with the DRL -alternates between s/w upgrades

    As I mentioned before, I'm pretty sure disappearing DRL and other things are not the s/w update itself, but the dealer forgetting to reactivate it. There must be at least 15 items they need to turn on for the average bike and also figure out which are for the given model as some of us ended up with modes from SDs instead of SAs ...
