Cool. I think the 450EXC (with aux side panel tank) has about 150 - 175 mile range.
I'll carry an extra liter. (and siphon hose)

Yeah, I should be able to fit some more stuff. Not a bunch of tires I hope. :lol3
Whatcha got? (PM if to stay anonymous)
You could drop it off at my home (Cupertino) or work (9a-7p Wed-Thu) in Sunnyvale.
    PM me for details.

As psychoman says, gas requirements are not bad. It's actually about 85 miles each way to Beatty and back. And if absolutely necessary, there's gas at Stovepipe Wells going and coming. It's a fun ride, and some beautiful scenery. Would be better without the slab, but it's worth it!

Well, I guess I'll start packing my bike in case nobody buys my carpool/ride-in spot with 3 dinners (shameless plug yet again). I may even just spend the money for that open spot in the Jimmy Lewis spot and then hope nothing bad happens while my bank account is riding a low balance during the next few months of moving to Colorado and finding a new job... I do need to gain some skills before doing the COBDR this summer/fall.

Most folks roll in on Thursday... @surfgimp is just an over-achiever!! There are a lot of little rides to take Thursday afternoon/evening that don’t require a lot of DV knowledge, just a map, e.g.; charcoal kilns, Ballarat, Darwin, Cerro Gordo, etc...

Anyone riding North to PSR on Wednesday but not doing the Warm Springs ride? As of right now, I'm planning on riding from Orange County to PSR on Wednesday. Along the way, I hope to hit some or all of the following: Trona Pinnacles, Searless Lake bed, Ballarat, Trona Wildrose Road, Charcoal Kilns, Immigrant Pass, Aguereberry Point, Skidoo, then on to Panamint Springs. If anyone has any interest in meeting me anywhere between Orange County and Kramer Junction and riding the rest of the way to PSR with me, please let me know and we can work out a plan. I expect this ride will take most of the day. The vast majority of it will be asphalt and the dirt parts, from what I recall from many years ago, should be doable by a noob. If not, I'm fine with skipping or backtracking. Since I've ridden all of these in the past, I'm also open to alternative routes. Also, if anyone has any information on the status or negative conditions of any of the roads listed above, please share that with me. Thank you. --Eric

thursday ride - i recommend head out to ballarat to wildrose, agueberry point, skidoo and stovepipe wells to get gas...and most importantly a park pass.

great plan. if you plan to do more riding, and we all know dirt has so many varying terrains. taking the class not only improves your skill but you'll gain a lot of confidence. jimmy also teaches his student problem solving. once you're on your own, you will thank jimmy.

The fifth running of "Big bike Noobs friendly tour of Death Valley" on Friday will fit your bill (route exactly as NSFW described). Kickstand up at 8:30 PSR gas station. Slim chance @KaptSlo ?? :lol3

Steve. Thanks for stepping up. Since you might be tired to cook your dinner after the ride....I added you to the Thursday dinner list.

Some of the attendees arrange to get to the rally sooner than others to take advantage of extra ride time. Most will be arriving by Thursday afternoon or evening.

I'll be arriving by Wed afternoon. May make a quick trip out to the Saline Hot Springs, but not spending the night there. As mentioned above, will plan to take a group out for a ride on Thursday afternoon, and then lead a longer ride on Friday.

There's more places to ride than you can ever do in even a long weekend, and plenty of opportunities to hook up with others in both organized and ad-hoc rides.
