Had a question about the garage sale. I'm a newer rider to this scene and I have very little gear, the idea of buying brand new stuff seems excessive. What kind of stuff can a rider pickup there at the garage sale? I'm after boots (11-12) and pants (30-32)

Last year we had multiple pairs of boots, pants, shirts, protection, parts, tires, etc. Some were brand new, some were not, but, still in great cond. THIS is exactly what the Garage Sale is about. Riders passing it on. Hopefully, Inmates see this and clean out the garage and bring the gear they're not using anymore down.

    COFFEE

    Just a reminder...
Coffee should be ready for the early and or cold risers around 5:30 AM at site #3 (Full hookup RV). Second pot available around 7:30 should the first 100 cup urn run out.
I'll have them on timers so before pulling a cup please make sure the "light" on the pot is on. This signifies the coffee is ready.
Powdered Creamer and sugar will be available along with a community stirring device (spoon). Please don't take it (or drop it in the dirt).
Bring your own cup, there are none available at the coffee site. Come on, you're advriders, you should never leave home without one. The Silipints work GREAT and the black pints this year DON'T STAIN!

Also, there may be a limited amount of sweet rolls available on Friday and Saturday. These aren't to be a supplement for your breakfast! Please, one per customer first come first served, and you must be present... in other words, no you can't take one back to your wife/buddy in camp.

    Respectfully,

That would be awesome, I love the prep for these events. Hunting down items, getting gear ready. Would it be risky showing up without everything I need to ride? Not sure I can think of a solution besides relying on the garage sale for non essentials, really excited to check it out.

Yes. I am the same size as you listed and also wear a small jacket and have a REALLY hard time finding used gear after many years of watching forums. I pretty much have given up and don't bother looking anymore. We aren't in the main bell curve of motorcyclist sizing in this country.

For less then $200 you can get good boots, a full compression pad top, gloves, and knee pads at Cycle Gear. Assuming you have a helmet you have the minimum (in my opinion). Pants for $50 also. Free delivery on mail orders over $50.

The other option is what is your Hospital copay/deductible?

Bike prep all weekend so I might as well post up now.

I’ll be heading out after work Wednesday to arrive that evening. I figured that I would get the true DVNR experience by strolling through Trona In the evening to sense the local flair and atmosphere. Do they shut down the gas pumps after a certain time? - My goal is to camp somewhere between Panamint Springs and Ballarat Wednesday night and ill roll up to PS early AM Thursday.

If anybody has stuff they need hauled up from the northern LA county area let me know, I’ll have some bed space (firewood?). Unfortunately I will have to head out Saturday AM so getting your stuff home may be subcontracted out to the local Burros.

    Ride Interest Post:

Thursday or Friday I’m planning to do the Pleasant Canyon - South Park Loop before the Jeep traffic hits on Saturday. I would like to open it up to anybody who is interested in a bit more rugged terrain than most of the other rides around DV. There is plenty to see along the way.

    · It’s an intermediate route with only 1 “advanced” hill climb. Lots of loose rock, steep downhills, loose rock, <5% sand.

    · Fantastic views of Panamint valley and plenty of cool mines and varying topography.

    · Intermediate-Expert level ride on a big adventure bike however very doable for an intermediate/ average rider on a dirt bike. Unfortunately this is not a noob (Brand new to dirt) friendly.

    · Pace: Depending on group but I’m not expecting the Dakar rally at 7,000 ft.

    · Stopping for pictures at Ballarat, various locations where riders crash & lunch at Briggs Camp below the old bridge (although I hear is has been replaced).

    · Gas Range – 120 Miles should be more than enough. There are no gas stops along the way but we won’t leave a man behind.

    · I’ll be riding with a full medical kit and Garmin Inreach in case you want to text mommy or the bunny ranch on the trail.

    · Cold beer @ Site 55 if you survive the Chicken Rock bend.

@emmi has a great video of our trip up there from last year run by @Todd157k

I’ll gauge interest into next week based on how many rides get posted. Shoot me a quick Private Message or post on here if interested.

Also: I do ask that you have your emergency information provided: https://goo.gl/forms/s3aCnsBq5eIfBU4A2

If Zero interest I’ll just scrap it and head to the Salt tram instead. Gracias Amigos -DTS

Check your local Craigslist, many FFs off good usable boots when they upgrade to top shelf bling. Also cheap/new is fine, ie Fox Comp 5, check fleabay, 3-Day deliv will get to you in time. I've bought a couple pairs of Cortech pants, great for the price https://www.amazon.com/Cortech-GX-S...049707&sr=1-1&keywords=Cortech+GX+Sport+Pants

Red Pass yesterday. Titus Canyon road is in pretty good shape and traffic was light. Wind kicked up when I got down into the valley. Still, a fun ride.

Like @migilito said, there was some pretty nice stuff last year. I remember seeing qute a few smaller items that, at least in my case, have shrunk due to living in a desert climate....

Crap, just noticed my larger apparel has shrunk too, more for the pile :(

I will be bringing a pair of Fly MX boots in size 12 for the garage sale. A good set for starting out in, great shape and hardly used.

Garage Sale: Folks, I'll be arriving @ PSR Tuesday mid am. I drive a white tore up ugly Toyota Tundra and will be staying @ cabin 18. Please feel free to drop off Garage Sale stuff at cabin 18. Like last year, I'll set out a table/small area for all items and the "sale" will basically operate on an honor system (if I'm not there). You pay what you want...ALL moneys go to the fund. Bring those things you won last year and didn't use, those things that no longer fit because you are getting old and shrinking, Vendors-bring those things that were returned/opened and you can't sell. FYI- Joel is donating his Africa Twin because he's old and shrinking and it no longer fits.....

i am planning to do the hot springs camping, but if i arrive late, will still ride there and come back to camp in the afternoon. don't want to miss the the rider in a mankini riding around the hot springs.

good you posted up. there are a lot of people here who like to help. i have size 36 pants that will be donating.

also bringing a 3XL suit and size 13-14 shoes that someone donated to the Pahrump Rally and was left on the table. instead of trashing them, i kept them in my garage for times like this.

nice....but parking on the left side at a blind corner is not good in other places. i know that's a one way road, but there are people who rides against the grain.

i will update page one with vendors who will be there. if you're a vendor please post up and let us know the cool stuff available for us to purchase.

thanks greg for handling this chore. impossible for many of us to do. who wakes up at the early.....:snore

yes folks, bring your own mugs or cups.

this is a great route. peeps post up and make this happen. this was stomping ground in the 80's.

easy. there's always a noob that's shy and don't have friends to help them. this event was created for that reason.

as for the rest, they return to the event to volunteer and others make it a reunion with good friends and meet new faces.

Sorry if I missed this, is there a good place to download gps tracks for the various loops people commonly do at the rally? I plan to mostly latch on to various groups but it's always good to be prepared.

Also interested in joining rides to Salt Tram, Mengel/Goler, and various cabins.
