Sure is Olie
Slight was indeed in good form with the RC45, then did a lot of testing for RC51 when it was being developed and was set to race it in 2000 along with Edwards. Then early in the 2000 he was suffering from deformed and bleeding vain in the brains and had major brain surgery. He did a very quick recovery/comeback and was on the bike after 3 months or so. But just didn't worked out for him and docs really didn't think he was up to racing anymore. Then Honda quietly dropped him and he went on car racing for a few years. Then a quiet life after racing, did some commentary stuff too at some point.
couple of links about Slight:
Yesterday I was watching him riding this around Pukekohe. Hugh Anderson was on the Black Lightening
Thanks for the links. I didn't know he raced an FZ750 one of my favorite bikes. I loved his era of Superbikes and I went to the Laguna round many years running. It was often more fun than the GP races.
Prettiest TZ750 you're ever likely to see. Poifect.
If yuz like classy older race bikes, it's worth a look over in Olds Cool, Pukekohe Classic. Some bloody awesome bikes there. (Been neglecting this one a little..)
I was wearing a 40th anniversary Suzuka 8hr T shirt, with photos of all the winners on it. CE had a look.
"Goddamn assholes! I won that race 3 times, and every photos got my partner in it! Goddamn!"
We had a little chat about just how brutal that race is. Cool dude.
Thats tellin ya!
Good stuff. Thanks.
simply stunning stuff there!
