Hey inmates, I am wondering if any of you lucky SE riders could give me an idea on the two following quesitons:

    1. How many K's do you generally get out of a 30ltr Safari tank - based on mixed riding?

    2. How many K's do/have you made it with the fuel warning light?

I`ve seen 400 kilometers with the warning light being on for the last 2ks.. Haven`t run it low enough to see what sort of reserve you get but i`d be pretty confident that you would see 450 + on the speedo.. Speeds of up to 130 on the tar and dirt riding to Delegate, with panniers also..

Its one of those questions that`s hard to answer as it really depends on how hard you push it, soft sand, tyres etc..

it is hard to get a level playing field... but keen to hear others details... This morning the light came on and 35ks later the bike cut out 150 meters from the servo... on my 950ADV's I always got 50k's with the light on...

Often the light comes on at 330-340ks......... road, dirt, single track... doesn't seem to matter...

I have got around 500Kms on the way down to Victoria one day keeping to the speed limit following my brother on his Honda Transalp:huh . I don't get that sort of range off road or when I am on twisty roads.

I wouldn't be so sure about that 60km on reserve. My fuel light comes on around 400km. Last time it came on just as we left Boonah and I filled up at Beudesert (about 35km) and it took 28 litres to fill the 30 litre tank.

I'd agree with that, when the light comes with the Safari on there is far less left than the Adv. Mine took 28 litres too after travelling 2 km through traffic. I think, though, each tank might be different due to swelling. My tank is empty at the moment so when I get the fuel pump in and rear shock back and re-installed I'll let you know how much I can get into it. I suggest more than 30 litres if my experience with the 40L (that actually hold 45L on my 990) is anything to go by.

I had done 365ks and was walking.. I only got 29.6ltrs in the tank... yeah they might all be a bit different due to swelling ect - but 30ltrs will be close. I have put the baffles back in the Akro's due to the amount of road riding I am doing at the moment so I will see if that has an effect on fuel range..... .

The 30 litre tank came in handy in the Victorian Alps recently. I didn't need to plan my trip based on service stations to refuel.
