My mate and i are planning a trip through SE Asia, leaving from Perth Australia. We are looking into shipping our bikes from Darwin to Dili using Perkins ANL Express. Having read a few horror stories of people putting their bikes on the ship and having to wait 2-3 weeks to eventually receive the bike at the other end, i am looking for anyone that has experience and/or a contact that we can call to suss out the shipping arrangements?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Perkins were taken over some time ago. You need to talk to one or these http://www.swireshipping.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=213&Itemid=90 or https://www.anl.com.au/news/82/anl-takes-over-perkin-s-dili-darwin-service I got a quote from Johanes Christanto at ANL back in Feb. If you PM me with your email address, I can on forward it for you. When are you planning to go? The wife and I plan to be shipping our bike out of Darwin to Timor about the end of Sept or early Oct.

Thanks gperkins, i have PMed you.

I got the following response from Swires when i emailed them a week or so ago:
    "Good morning Josh,
Thank you for giving Swire Shipping the opportunity to quote on your shipping requirement’s, unfortunately SSL do not provide LCL (Less than container load) services, as such please find following a Freight Forwarders details below based in Darwin that will be able to assist with your enquiry on this occasion.

    Alzira LAY-LEONG
    Senior Operations Officer"

    She gave the following details
    "Bollore Logistics Australia Pty Ltd

    Darwin Logistics Base
    14 Hamaura Road - East Arm – NT 0822 - Australia
    T +61 8 89356700 D +61 8 89356701alzira.layleong@bollore.com - bollore-logistics.com"

Will give them a call and see what they can do, otherwise it looks like (unfortunately) its going to have to be ANL

Guys things have changed, there's a few more players but still the same slow ANL ships. I'm in talks with SDV (Bollore agent) to smooth out the process, hopefully I'll have all the ducks lined up by Monday afternoon 19/9/16.

PM me if you need a place to crash or work on the bike in Darwin :-)

Hi guys, this is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for all the info already supplied.
My partner and I are planning to ship from Darwin to dilli as well and we would want to leave by the end of September.
Recently I spoke to some kiwis travelling on bikes they shipped over and they said they could fit 6 in a container. Apparently reduced their costs greatly.
As gperkins said he was thinking of shipping 2 bikes around the end of September we could maybe find enough bikes for 1 container? Only 2 more needed.

Let me know what you think.

    Cheers

We are two people, but one bike. None the less, we are still good for about the end of Sept. Lets stay in touch here and with a bit of luck we can pull something together and save some money as well. :1drink

Airnorth fly direct to Dilli from Darwin most days of the week, not sure if their jets would fit a motorcycle but it could be worth a look.

No wide bodied aircraft fly into Dili, so flying a bike is out of the question guys.

    Hey mate,

I shipped with Bollore Logistics in Darwin, (April 2017) cost was $800aud and $75US at the Dili end.

Lady at Bollore was really good, will find her details and get them to you.

    Regards

    Josh
