    Hi all,

I don't know the best way to phrase my question but I'm wanting to measure the distance on a route so that I can figure out where I'll be on that route after, say, riding 250 miles. This is so I can make plans (food, lodging) for that location. I don't see a method for doing this on Google Maps ... maybe there's another mapping app that will?

    Thanks!

I do this all the time in Garmin Mapsource and Basecamp. I create a route using a routable mapset like City Navigator. Then I convert the route into a track.
Then I open the track and use Shift/Scroll to select a portion of the route. The track window shows the mileage in the selected region.

There may be a way of doing directly on the route, but I don't know it. An alternative method would be to make another route just over the region of interest and then opening the route screen to see how long it was.

I'm using my iPhone for navigation. I don't see Tourplanner for the US. Looking at Furkot at the moment.

FURKOT has that capability, and in spades. It can also help you find gas, food, and lodging/camping. There can be a bit of a learning curve so best to check out the FURKOT thread here for orientation & help: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/furkot-the-online-trip-planning-tool.1028148/

Furkot has a lot of features ... pretty good. I just found out about plotaroute.com. It's also good.
