    Another thought might be a one wheel drive Ural, they have a little more steam and hwy speed and are fairly cheap, if one does a little maintenance and keeps clean oil in them they can last quite awhile. Thinking folks either love them or hate them.
    There you go lads I've suggested a motor without full pressure oiling to the crank WTF :fpalm

    caution - caution ! :evil this could be a ruse ........... and it may have something to do with Luke being on a sabbatical of sorts. Seems DB has been trying his best to lure him back onto the Forum with all kinds of verbiage , some compassionate , intellectual and even instructive.
    The longer Luke stays absent :uhoh, no telling where this could lead ................ More will be revealed :type

    Actually I fell on a bicycle on some ice, I got some great bruises. Yeah 3 piece crank splash oiling WTF was I thinking ? I did manage to ram my head into a bridge abutment and was happy to be wearing a helmet :-) It seems to have created a kinder more mortal old fool !
    On the other hand Strong Bad owned a Ural for a bit and survived !

    The bike crash is a true story complete with head slam,, I'm 68 I put the studded tires in this morning ! :lol3

    If Dave buys a Ural we will really know he hit his head too hard and he needs medical attention. And, the medical attention will probably be administered by a tall blond scandinavia nurse.

    So, Bobby, I don't know how deep in you want to go financially, but I been thinking. Take a look at this ---->

    alyxmoto1.jpg

    DMC built that rig, the car is one of their standard enduro models, and they should still have all the measurements for the forks, subframe and strut mounts.

    Then consider this ---->

    A bit overpriced, but nobody is going to pay that, so he'll have to bring the price down to earth if he wants to sell it. Or search Cycletrader for a cheaper X-Challenge. There's one for sale right now in Tennessee for $3700.

    The X-Challenge is, of course, a 650 thumper with a dependable Rotax engine. But for a little more ooomph, you could bump it up to a F800GS with a Rotax twin engine--and their are 63 used ones for sale right now on Cycletrader including one in Colorado for $6000 with 16,000 miles.

    Just some ideas.

    [Edit--if you want to see what a F800 would look like with a DMC enduro car, check out THIS PAGE in the Sidecars-Let's See 'Em thread.]

    Thank you so much for all these great leads! That F800/DMC rig is pretty much what I has hoping to find. My current two-wheeler is a KLR 685 Supermotard and putting a tub on it is my fallback position...though not my first choice, Hence my ad in FM and my companion post here in Hacks.

    That's cool davebig. I've owned a Ural and I'm NOT going to buy one unless it has a BMW Airhead engine/trans in place of the stock mill.

    I'm sure you meant not going to buy one ! They're not my cup of tea either but I'm trying to be a bit more open minded :lol3
    Fanta Se probably well assembled looks like from Perry Bushong in Dallas if you want lower gears find a lower final drive.
