went back to the Pima Air and Space Museum after last touring it just about a year ago. i have been there more times than i can remember and each time i am happy i went. If you have the opportunity and you love airplanes, this place is amazing. happy to report they once again had a several new models, including this one...

(a personal fav of mine. i have an RC version that hauls ass!)

    ....and it's big brother.

1- look at those propellers vs airplane size!
2- luv the center cannon coming out the nose
    3- luv the shape

these are airplanes we/you used to draw as kids. crazy, didn't make much sense, probably fly just as bad, but hey! they were the coolest!

    laters,

    Don't give me a P-39.

    The engine is mounted behind.

They'll tumble and spin and auger you in,

    Don't give me a P-39.

    To go with the above:

Don't give me a Peter Four Oh,

She's a hell of an airplane you know,

She'll cough and she'll wheeze, and head straight for the trees,

Don't give me a Peter Four Oh.

(Regarding its poor high altitude performance)

That diddy has been stuck in my head for 30 years.

Oh just found more of these at:

I love that plane as well.....IMHO early american fighters where just as good as those from europe or asia.....just hampered by idiot decisions in engines.
