I am thinking of riding the Daniel Boone Back Country Byway very soon.
It shows a 107 mile loop. Any suggestions for parking on the Northern loop ? Anyone have experience riding this loop ? Anyone want to join me ? I can ride weekends or weekdays with notice. I will ride my DRZ400.

I've ridden parts of it. Some of the DBBB roads overlap with KAT. It's primarily a 4WD route developed by the Ohio Valley Four Wheelers. I'm sure it's an excellent dualsport route. Sorry - no parking leads for you. BE SURE TO read posts regarding Mountain Springs Road in Estill County and how to navigate there. There is a local landowner who was blocking the road and is not to be taken lightly. I believe the club has resolved this through legal action but just so you are aware.

I found a site that says start in Slade KY and ride Counter clock wise. Slade has a public rest area off Bert T Combs Highway.
Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully someone will chime in later this week with info or a desire to ride it with me.

I park in parking lot just down and across from Miguels pizza, down hill from Natural bridge lodge. Never had issue leaving truck and trailer there. Don't park in rest area, you'll be towed. I've also parked on pullooff on Indian creek road, where you can start on Spaas creek loop. Done the loop several times, be sure to have route on gps, although periodically marked it can get confusing. Beware if you take a bigger bike down the Walker creek route. Hells creek also has some deep crossings if there's been rain lately. I may ride it Saturday if heat is bearable.

I unfortunately had a fender bender with my car on Saturday, added workload and problems to resolve for the week... probably not going to make the trip

Yep, there is a park & ride right off of the Slade exit. I have rode it, it's not overly technical but be sure to have full knobbies as there are alot of water crossings, mud and rocks.

Hey osbo I’m interested in learning those routes too. I’m on a big bike tho and probably wouldn’t be able to do anything too difficult. I can always turn around tho. Getting 50/50 tires installed hopefully next week, so I may want to hook up with you and explore. I can go during the week too. Dan-O

When you have your 50/50 tires ready , let me know. You would think a big group of dual sport riders from this group would be interested. But hey, we can go. Once you are ready, we can discuss a date/time. JIM

Depending on when and where, I'd like to take the Stelvio out and test her new bash plate.
I was going to hit birthday boy GWhis up to see if he'd lead a SE Indy DS ride in the near future.

Thanks for the follow up! Sorry about the circumstances.

My two-day training ride went well. 80 miles of gnarl both days (in opposite directions) without any physical issues...other than a sore butt. HA! Easy solution...stand up more like Roger!!! I did have a problem with my SPOT tracking going dark. I think it was a combination of canopy thickness, heavy clouds and device positioning. I previously used a RAM mount on the bars but now moved the SPOT to carry on my shoulder strap in case I get separated from the bike. This probably wasn't optimal positioning for satellite reception. So back to the bars.

First day on Tour of Idaho endeavor - August 10.

Glad it went well for you. I’m wondering where to locate my Spot now. Hmmm....I wanted it on my person for same reason you did. (rolling down a hill minus the bike...) I’ll get it activated and just try different locations I guess. I got so much junk on or near my dash, a RAM mount would be crowded.

Something to think about....tree canopy thickness is less of an issue out west.
