Came over the hill to find two KTM 1190’s waiting for me to clear the trail. I’m new to big bikes and it’s cool to meet other like minded riders out in the wild.

BTW, this is my first post on advrider.

Hey guys. I am looking for opinions on suspension work closer to home. Specifically, my 2016 Africa Twin right side fork has sprung a leak. It first happened back in July and I cleaned things out with a homemade seal mate. That seemed to last through a trip out West to the COBDR, but the last couple weeks sitting in the garage, the leak is back.

I am not against replacing seals myself, but wanted to check opinions on the local places. I see MCR in Metamora and Tech-Care in Clarkston but have not heard much about either of them.

The other option would be to ship the forks off to someone, but the thought of them bouncing around the back of a UPS truck does not sound like something I want to chance.

Any other local places I should check into? Any good/bad experience with MCR or T-C?

They don't have the electronic adjustment, right? I can do them for you and cook dinner while I'm at it! :)

Right. Thanks for the offer Marco. Sounds like my best option. I have a couple more days of work but then I am off for a week. I will give you a call.

there was a KTM shop in Waterford on Dixie Hwy. He resprung and revalved the forks of my Honda BRP. but this was a few years ago. it appears that the shop is now closed. maybe one of the other Detroit greetings regulars may know if he is doing business in a new location. I think his name was Dwayne.

Dwayne had the small shop beside the river in Drayton Plains, correct? I meant the guy who had the shop about 3 miles further NW up the road...I thought his name was Dwayne.
I think he was connected to speedynamics

Speed Dynamics is owned by Paul Hudy who was working with Duane at Oakland Sports Center (the little shop on the river).

The only other shops I can think of up that way is Sicass (NW) or Magic (SE) all of them are on Dixie Hwy.

Bruno would know for sure as that is his stomping errr brapping grounds.

Tech-Care straightened a fork tube on a scooter of mine when no one else would touch it. Fast turn around and reasonably priced. YMMV

I have dealt with both MCR and Tech Care and have nothing but good things to say about them. Tech Care has moved to Andersonville and White Lake rd.

I’ve had the suspension on my 525 refreshed a few times by Paul Hudy. Never had an issue, quick turnaround and decent prices. Any issues and he’d call me to discuss before going forward.

I was recommended to him by the guys at Sicass.

I know lots guys who have used Tech Care in the past with no issues. I had a bad experience with Dave on a suspension issue several years ago and never went back.
I believe it’s now owned by his son, from what I heard. Maybe time for another visit if I can’t get in touch with Paul.

I also had great experience with Enduro Engineering in Lansing. They sprung and valved my 525 after I bought it. But that was 11 years ago. lol

Have heard many good things about MCR as well but never done business with them.
