Well, it's been a wilwhile for me. Life happened, and then it straight up throat punched me last year. It was time to go on a long ride. Summer break is rapidly running out. I had a vague idea of what needed to happen and a few places I could go. Last night, I said now or never. Loaded the bike and left. Not quite sure where all I'll go, depends on how sore my butt gets, but so far so good. 5 hrs and 375 miles in.

Saddle up. My frosty's melted and I have 175 more miles to go.

So anyways, last night I decided it was time. Got most of the stuff loaded, woke up before the alarm and finished up.

    Think I'll head North.

GPS says I've got about 525 miles to go. I was pretty sure I would need a good long rest about half way, thought I might even try and take a nap in the heat- forecast was for 104 degrees in Great Falls, Montana.

Opted for the back roads- went through Island park / Ennis, etc up to Helena.

From Helena, the roads got a *little* more fun but as soon as I climbed up and out the temps jumped about 10 degrees.

Super-slabbed it the rest of the way.

Made fantastic time to Great Falls. This bike really eats up the road!

Took a break to eat a frosty and have some lunch, then thought I'd check out my favorite salvage yard. I guess it's been a while, because the owner only sells new bikes now. Said he quit doing the salvage stuff like 5 years ago!

This might give you an idea of where I'm headed...

As might this. Faves, right there!!!

"Home", in the Great White North.

Did 545 miles today. Ride was pretty good, a whole lot less sore than I thought I would be but the 104 degree temps did a number on the Whoppers in my tank bag... :bluduh

So where do I go from here? Thinking of hitting the road this afternoon, could go through B.C. to Washington and visit some ex inlaws, could go through glacier and do the same. Or I could go through glacier and camp somewhere, or... ?

Spent a lazy day yesterday. Picked through some of Dad's junk, hauled a load of it to the dump, and made some plans on how to get some of it down where I can play with it. He's got some neat old stuff. And a whole lot of scrap iron.

Anyone interested in these? There are actually three of them.

This is the one I want to work on... But it's a chevy.

    Then there's all this junk.

And that's just a piece of it all.

Got a plan. Heading south in a bit through Glacier, going to camp somewhere south of Kalispell tonight and go the rest of the way home tomorrow. Not as long a ride as I had hoped, but probably more than I should be doing.

Yesterday was fun. Left Alberta about 3 in the afternoon, went through Cardston and crossed into the U.S.

Old Chief. Climbed it once as a kid. I'd like to do it again!

As you can see, it was pretty smokey. I was about to find out why...

Going to the Sun road is always fun. It was a little crowded, which also means ssssslllllooooowwwwwww.

At the top of Logan's Pass.

    Crowded.

Down the other side. Getting less hazy, but man, that sure looks like a pillar of smoke...

    Oh. Lake Mcdonald's on fire...

Turns out later that night (about 2 hours after this) they closed that side of the park and started evacuating. I guess it has gotten really big since.

No surprise here though, right? An unmanaged forest with fuel covering the ground...

I was in go mode. Made it to Lake Seeley camp ground south of Kalispell in pretty good time. 241 miles for the day.

    Camp.

Apparently, there's a lake over there.

I was pooped. Fried me up some Mountain House chicken and potatoes and went to bed.
