I forgot about that bike. Take the CTX motor, put it into a bike styled like the old standard wing. Shaft drive, modern tires, brakes and ABS. Offer optional detachable saddlebags, windshield, tail trunk. Maybe a sissy bar:D Still pretty big and heavy but I might be interested.

My apologies for the slight hijack. The CTX should have been left on the list of bikes being produced and marketed by Honda. With minor tweaking it would be a classic in my opinion. As much as I like my current ride, the CTX is still on my someday list. It has the right bones.
Off my cyber soapbox and back the touring of our esteemed colleague @klaviator.
    Ride on my friend. :ricky

    Happy New Year!!

It's been nearly a month since my last post on this thread. I haven't stopped riding but I haven't done anything worth posting about. it's just been a lot of short rides around town. As I write this it's a very un-Alabama like 19 degrees outside with a forecast low tonight of 8:eekers It looks like the arctic weather will be here for a while so I probably won't be doing any epic rides anytime soon. I did check all my bikes odometers and added up my mileage for 2017.

I rode a little over 15,000 miles with the mileage on each bike as follows:

    Kymco Super 8...3897
    Smax.................3259
    Versys...............2873
    KLR650..............2560
    Majesty..............2492

In 2016 my Majesty had the most miles with nearly 5K. This year I spread my miles more evenly among my bikes than previous years. It was a pretty good year even though I didn't do any really Epic trips. My longest trip this year was the 5 day ride on my Super 8. No definite plans for this year yet except to ride as much as I can.

So, for everyone following this thread I hope you had a good year and have an even better 2018.

Hopefully I'll have some rides to report on and pics to post before too long.

Over 60 here today. I did get out for about 20+ miles running errands around town. Forecast is for the next arctic blast to hit this weekend:(

Same here. I did a 24° ride trying out some heated pants.

They are not really necessary but a nice addition, they are a keeper for me.

We have been having some cold weather in Alabama but I have been riding a fair amount just commuting around town. Earlier this week it was 26 degrees on my ride home from work. Yesterday it got close to 60 so I took a ride on my KLR.

Hopefully we'll get some warmer and dry weather before too long and I'll be able to get out on some longer rides.

I had a nice view from my "office" before getting off work this morning.

Then I went for a short ride this morning getting back home just before the rain started:D

We have been having some very warm but wet weather. On Saturday I rode over to Allsport to see what new bikes they had in the showroom. They did not have a new Kawasaki Z900. They sold one and where waiting for the next. They did have a new Xmax. This is a really great new scooter. Small and efficient enough to make a great around town commuter but big enough to take on a cross country trip. Best of all Roomy enough for 6-2 me to fit on it comfortably.

If I didn't already have my Smax and Majesty I'd be buying this scooter.

One of my all time favorite bikes was my 89 Kawasaki EX500. I put 66,000 miles on it. This new Yamaha R4 reminded me a lot of my EX500.

Too bad I'm an old guy whose knees probably wouldn't handle the riding position for very long.

They had some good deals on 650 Versys's but not as good as the screaming deal I got on mine. These are actual prices as they don't add a bunch of fees like most dealers.

Yesterday I rode the Smax to Wally World. I always take the scenic route which adds about a mile to my trip but has better scenery and a lot more curves than the direct route. Due to the unseasonably warm weather things are starting to bloom around here including all the Bradford Pear trees.

I'm getting the itch for a road trip or at least a long ride. The weather forecast looks good for next weekend and the Deal's Gap resort is also opening next weekend:hmmmmm

klaviator - that is an R3, isn't it? There are rumors of an R4, and with the new Ninja 400, if would be good timing, but I have never seen one.

Oops! It's a Ninja 400. I don't know why I was thinking R4. It says Kawasaki right on the bike.

Some more views from my office this morning. Somewhere over Northeastern Louisiana.

Weather forecast for this weekend looks real good. I'll probably go to the Bike Night at Cycle Gear Friday night. Then I have to decide between riding to Shelbyville Saturday to watch some flat track racing or maybe a road trip to Deal's Gap or N. Georgia. Or maybe a ride to High Falls where there has to be an enormous amount of water flowing.

    Decisions, decisions:hmmmmm

Klaviator; I was through your neighborhood on the weekend, although the bikes were in an enclosed trailer. We were on our way back to Ontario from Florida via the Barber Museum and then continuing north on I65.

Both High Falls and Little River Canyon are probably amazing right now, I might head over to one of those tomorrow or Sunday. Last time I went to LRC it was completely dry. Like surface of the Moon dry.
