Reminds me of the value of the journey vs the destination.
I caught these guys.......
Very close to this.....
Name the AZ mtn range, or the hwy # the shot was taken from.
I haven't been there and certainly didn't see the fire. But just from looking at a map and using your clues my first guess would be AZ 80 and the mountains would be the Chiracahuas.
You got it!
These are in New Mexico and I believe a little north of the Gadsden Purchase boundary. But the spot has a strong link to the history of S Arizona.
I'm going riding in South Dakota for a week. so here's the answer now.
The spot is Ft Cummings, about 15 miles north of Deming. It was a stage stop on the Butterfield route.
Name the range.
trick question? Is it two mountain ranges?
One range, the peak just to the left of the camper was very significant during the Apache wars for "flashing Code".
The range has a cartographic name, but is more commonly known by the name of its summit.
Hmmm are we looking across the San Pedro?
Pinalenos or Mt Graham...
You are correct!
Uh-oh now I have to dig out a pic! One thing I'm terrible at is stopping to take pictures. Give me a minute I'll find one...
OK this one will be a little different. Not much scenery in the pic but anyone who has been there won't forget it!
Anybody seen this sign bsides me???
(And no I didn't go through!!!)
Seems likely that's a one-off.
Well damn! Didn't mean to kill the thread! Well let's try a much friendlier sign. I'm sure some of you guys have been here...
Another pic of the area...
