I have garmin Oregon 450 with no maps at all.. I have been using for geocaching and some trrail riding/hiking BUT.. we are planning to go ride some trials in the Cloudcroft Nm are next month where i am not familiar with trails off the pavement.. Been all over on the pavement but we are looking at riding forest roads and trails. Id like to have some maps that might help find my way back to the truck... so i look at maps that are available and find
    Garmin TOPO U.S. 24K Southwest
    Navigational Software
is this the one i want for
    off road trails?

the osm routable maps work really well... just make sure you're recording tracks, so you can follow it back to the start. if you can handle geocaching on the ancient 450, you can handle following tracks for sure!

    open street maps = osm

    they're free, routable.

you can also get really nice maps on gpsfiledepot.
