I came to this place that look new and from it the view was nice.

    The road was curvy.

With lower elevation it got hotter so it was nice to stop in the shadow of a tree to have water.

When I came to Xilitla the surroundings had changed from desert to rain forest. This is the view from the hotel.

Went to have a look at Las Pozas garden, created by English artist Edward James. Edward James inherit a lot of money from his father and uncle and he hat up to 150 people working for him to build the garden. Walked from the hotel to Las Pozas, it is a dirt road.

This is the entrance, paid half price as I looked both old and tired.

The buildings are interesting and there are lot of plants and trees.

Cloudy 20 to 25°C, nice weather for travelling
Went from Xilitla to Ciudad Victoria
When I woke up it did rain and this was the view from the hotel in the morning.

When I started from Xilitla it hat stopped to rain but the road was wet for the first hour and the road was very slippery, braking lightly with the rear brake activated the ABS. When I was out of the rain forest the road was dry and also everything looked very dry.

Stopped at this place to have lunch, ½ chicken.

    More photos from the road
    [IMG]

Then the wind started and of course there was a windmill park.

    The hotel in Ciudad Victoria
    [IMG]

The hotel manager walked with me over to a small restaurant where I got on of the best meal in Mexico.

The Mexican made Italika motorbikes are for sale everywhere.

Went from Ciudad Victoria to Hidalgo that is 35 km north of Monterrey.
For the hole day there where mountain to the left side and there was also lot of farming.

When I came to Monterrey there was heavy traffic but it did go rather fast.

Monterrey is the richest city in Mexico, the cars are newer, there are less people selling food and things on the street, it look like people have proper job here. They are also building a sky train.

The village Hidalgo where I am staying has a big sign and a statue of some important guy, what else can you ask for ?

Cloudy 15°C. It did rain in the morning until 11 AM
    Stayed at the hostel.
This is a Mountaineering paradise so everybody that are staying at the hostel/camping are climber. Went to the area where people are climbing and a few km further on a gravel road.

Many many years ago I was an active rock climber, awesome sport. Consequences can be severe if you get it wrong though!

    Those mountains look great...

    Went from Hidalgo to Torreon
This is how the weather was in the morning at the hostel/camping.

The road to Torreon was rather flat but not boring as there were not many village to go through so not many topes.

This is a old Tacko stand at the Libre road, most of the traffic is on the pay road so no more business here.

And they were preparing to get the truck back on its wheels.

Went from Ojinaga, Mexico to Big Bend national park
Bought fuel and food for the rest of the pesos. Went to the border and it was no problem getting out of Mexico. It did cost 13 pesos to cross the bridge on Rio Grande and on the USA side was a long line. I had to go inside at the USA migration and the two guys that that where working there took ca 15 minutes to look at all the stamps in my passport and there were 30 to 40 people from Mexico that had to wait while they were busy looking at the stamps. Probable there are not many overlander that cross at this border.

From the border I went over to the Big Bend national park and camped at Rio Grande Village.
