Heh heh yeah wanna come for a ride up there ? Watch out for the Sidi shitbomb :topes
Seriously though spending a few days in the area and had a ball exploring but we merely scratched the surface its loaded with gems ..tracks, views,...and Nimitabel pies :raabia
We camped (glamped..wine, beer, burgers, bigarsed tents and mattresses) 4 nights on Long Plain giving us good access to that area, but we all needed a shower 2 days ago so headed for Cooma CP and a cabin.
Just the 11 hr drive x2 to get there and home again but its worth it.

Ya lucky bastard. Are the roos and brumbies much of a a riding hazard?
Western Vic is mostly a Flatistan, but there's enough to keep us entertained in the Little and big deserts and the Grampians, Central goldfields , and the SW coast. What did I miss?

and presumably you went to the bakery? They're OK, but much better from the cafe across the road. Bombala pies are better again, as are Cobargo, Tumbarumba and Bungendore. Kuma pies in Cooma are decent too, if a little $exxy. In fact the Nimmitabel pies are pretty much at the bottom of the pie table over this way.

Well it was the best pie with peas I've had.
Have you thought about starting a thread about pies? Who has the best roo pies?

Hmmn time to fix a few things on the DRZ. Front indicators are broken off again.
Pity I have to work today and then off to Pt. Fairy for a van holiday with the kids. I picked up my MTB from Mt.Gambier yesterday so we will be riding the rail trails to the Koroit pub.
I can escape to the golf course when the grand kids wear me out!
    Happy Easter all!!

Agree with BergDonk that their pies are pretty low on the local desirability scale. Right down there with Bemboka Pie Shop, another iconic bakery that has dropped the ball with quality.

Like you, I usually get the pie with peas as it's the best thing they do (along with rock cakes (that vary in size and quality day-to-day)), but often they are run out of them before lunchtime, despite my frequently asking why they don't just bake a few more. The word "hopeless" springs to mind. Or maybe "useless". They used to open at sunrise (or earlier in winter), and all the regular truck drivers would get their brekky there, but the most recent owner decided he can't be stuffed looking after his long-term early customers so they only do standard shop hours now - weak as piss, especially when the lights are on before dawn for the baking anyway.

Like BergDonk, I tend to use the cafe over the road now, the bakery has become complacent due to the passing road traffic giving them a default income anyway.

I'm not but expect it to be really busy around there tomorrow. The tin tops will be more dangerous than the roos at dusk.
