Thanks for that video! That's a good, short overview of the route that is in place, so far. Nice commentary. :~)

I'm glad to hear what people think. The route is still in the building stagesÂ…especially up north. Team effort!! :freaky

My weekends are booked up for quite a while now until late September. I had hoped to get the whole route nailed down by now, but that isn't happening. But still, we'll get there.

It is a big bike route. Easy with camping gear or two-up. I hope to incorporate a couple hero/optional sections along the way for the day riders without a lot of gear.

    I'm aiming for August 16th.
    Early start around 7:30/ 8am ish:D
If anyone has done this before wants to lead, if not I'm just looking to do a putt thru the countryside.

This dirt ride was posted up last year. Parts are the same, but you could use as a return ride. Or you could add the little dirt section starting at the missile.

Onewheeldrive and I made this route a couple of years ago to make it up to the BaileyHazen in Wells River.

Doug, I'm pretty sure I'm in for the 16th. Did you get my PM? If not, what's a good time to call you? Is that start time from Kittery or NH? Ed.

I had the same problem with Internet Explorer. Firefox worked without any drama however.

I'm running Firefox but our PC is like over 11 years old. If I could quit buying bikes, I could probably afford a new one :freaky

If you want some help with the noerth part, let me know. I live in Bethlehem and do lots of dirt roads. I have riden the north south road ( long pond rd)3 times this year. It would be easier to hit Vermont but I could get you atleast to Lancaster mostly on dirt and even further staying in NH.
    Looks like a fun Rt.

Very excited to try at least the southern portion of the route.

One thing that would be great to have is campground locations around half way (presuming it's a two-day ride).

Any suggestions about where to stay after a solid day riding south to north?

Basecamp is giving me fits with your route. I'm trying to create a route heading south on the southern portion of your ride and the program won't let me trace over your route. Even with all avoidances de-activated, it re-routes me all over the place. Inverting the route, needless to say, creates a total mess.

For example, east of Lyme NH, it won't allow me to go a quarter mile or so to connect these waypoints. The Yellow is your route, but I can't get Basecamp to connect

Is it just the stupid program? This is happening all over the place. Very frustrating.

I'm getting a "content protected by owner" image, not a screenshot, but what mapset are you using?

Using the OSM maps for the northern portion of the route, I had three places where my maps (and Basecamp) didn't want to route me; in two of the three, there were map data errors, and in the third, the proposed route was headed up over a mile of Class VI roadway...so while it was, technically, a road, it wasn't looking big-bike friendly. I wouldn't expect you'd be getting issues "all over the place", though, unless your maps are very different from those used to generate the route.

I can vouch for this route... MrBill and Onewheeldrive did a great job on on this one. Hope we can do those hero sections next time when it is not a monsoon out there MrBill.

I'm getting the same error for your picture.

There is a section in the southern bit that, if you're headed north to south, would take you up a small dirt road marked "Do Not Enter". Garmin probably doesn't want to route you up that way. I don't want to condone anyone going against a Do Not Enter or anything, but I've heard stories of a guy that went past that sign and had no problems. It's a narrow, slightly washed-out road up a steep hill, so it's probably one-way because it would be tough for two cars to pass.

I wouldn't suggest riding the wrong way on a one-way under any circumstances, of course, but CERTAINLY not with a large group of motorcyclists. That would be much more likely to upset locals than just one or two sneaking through.

I *think* the turn I'm thinking about is (coming from the north to the south) Lyndeboro Road to Mountain Road. Google maps shows Mountain Road being one-way from New Road to Lyndeboro Road, so that makes sense.

Anyway, that might be one of the places that is screwing you up.

    Mr MassKlr,
There was way too much water last time we did that! Even when it's dry you have to ride up a waterfall. How many days do you think we should take up and back through VT?

    Hi,

I know some folks were looking for a route sheet to accompany the Hampster tracks... The link below is for the route sheet for the southern leg of the ride, based on the "version 3" GPS track that was posted on July 20th. The route sheets can be printed in narrow (enduro / DS type) or in wide (roadbook) formats.

You may need to first register (free) and login to http://www.rallynavigator.com/, then go to "Route Library". If using a PC, I highly recommend using Firefox, as Internet Explorer seems to hang it up.

Fair warning: the route sheets were generated using the GPS track, and I have not had time to proof it via test ride. Please let me know if you run into any snafu's. Lastly, I did not put in any resets, so it would probably be a lot easier to follow using an adjustable trip meter to keep in sync with the mileage.

When I get some time, I'll try to throw in some resets where appropriate (or if you have suggestions, please PM with locations, etc).

    Cheers,
    :ricky
