This is an old church close to my house, the marker, the old church and the back of the new church with the same name. 20171124_135033.jpg 20171124_135042.jpg 20171124_135055.jpg

Road tripping yesterday and decided to stop at the only remaining international boundary marker within the US borders. IMG_0619.JPG IMG_0618.JPG

Good to see things like this still standing. See it and document it while you can.

Apparently they got it wrong back in 1842. But just by a few feet, enough so that some of the houses are in Canada and some in the United States. Some of the houses even have the boundary running through them. This has made for some interesting situations. One involved 30 days of incarceration for a local who went acrost the unmanned border to get gas. It created a bit of an international dispute. It is also the only place in Maine you cannot get to from Maine without going into Canada first . Screenshot_20171210-093959.jpg
