I like my rib eye well done.
Great, but be forwarned your ribeye is going to look alot like a hot dog or hamburger.
On another note, I have been working on a trip plan to Junction Tx. to ride the Hill country. on the way back We are going to stop in Texarkana and shoot wild hogs at Kenny Keldermans farm. I talked with him the other day, he shot 11 in one day. In case you aren't aware they do a tremendous amount of damage to farm ground and crops. And they have no natural enemy.
You’re a big meanie if you’re going to shoot those innocent little piglets.

This is a link to some proposed legislation in Iowa dealing with selling motorcycles, motorcycle dealerships and motorcycle manufacturers:
I'm just trying to figure out what the intent of the proposed law is. I'm not trying to be "CSM". I've read it several times and just don't have enough of an understanding of selling motorcycles, dealerships and motorcycle manufactures in Iowa. I came across it while looking for something else. Can someone please explain it to me in simple words?
Also there was a bill introduced last week to make a certain fossil the State Fossil of Iowa. I'm going to write my legislators and volunteer to be the State Fossil of Iowa.
Thanks for any insight and feel free to contact your legislators and make Fishbonker the State Fossil of Iowa.
What is says to me, A manufacturer (let's say Polaris) can't have an interest in a retail store that sells there own product. unless they sell less than 150 units per year. Maybe someone smarter than me can shed some light.
I think that's about it. Section 322.14 starts out by saying, "14. A manufacturer or importer shall not directly or indirectly be licensed as, own an interest in, operate, or control a motor vehicle dealer. This subsection shall not prohibit any of the following:"
So basically, the general rule is that dealers have to be independent from manufacturers and importers. I guess there must be good reason for that. Dunno. Anyway, then you have a list of exceptions to the general rule. Some deal with bikes, some deal with motorhomes, etc.
The new exception is a prime example of piss-poor drafting. Basically, the idea "appears" to be that a manufacturer (or importer) CAN have an interest in a dealership as long as the manufacturer (or importer) only sells 150 bikes or less in the state each year either directly or through one of these owned dealerships.
I can't imagine who that would ever apply to. No clue as to why State Senator Sinclair (R) is pushing for this change.
I can say that I did get out for a short right today after a week of laying in bed slogging through the flu. That sure was a nice change.
I sent Amy Sinclair an email asking about the purpose of SF2068.
I think the exemption would be for companies like Tesla. They only sell direct. And they don't really sell that many units.
I've never really understood the reasoning behind "no direct sales".

I was leaning towards thinking it was Tesla as well, but the clause is written to address motorcycle sales only. I really can't fathom what bike manufacturer would be interested in investing in local dealerships so that they could garner 149 sales per year in the state. Makes no sense.
Here's an article I found on why these laws exist: https://www.americanbar.org/publica..._automobile_franchise_system_run_out_gas.html
Thanks for the replies and the link.
After reading it all again and considering the replies, I wonder if the bill is saying it is OK for a motorcycle manufacturer in Iowa that will sell less than 150 units in a year not be required to have a franchise or dealer network. I'm thinking a custom shop of some kind? Too Simple?
Perhaps Ms. Sinclair can shed some light.
Seen a white Tiger 800 out on the prowl west of Fremont yesterday, the only other bike I seen in over 200 miles ride.
Brother Funk & I were out and around Red Rock did 150. Saw some HD's out. Found a little ice cream in Knoxville. Who'd a thought 1/26/18 riding in Iowa!
Had you ridden gravel in the Marshalltown area on Saturday you'd of seen a sweet KLR-2fiddy tearing it up.
