sorry, it's just am so giddy. i'm sitting in a godawful, boring-ass meeting thinking about the bike.

the bike rides great. no more chicken strips. only downside is the snatchy throttle. takes a little getting used to when leaned over...

I'm glad we get the 'tall' seat as standard, but I do wish we got those turn signals. :D

I've heard that the bike having issues with throttle snatch?

So owners...what do you think about that situation or is it not an issue?

There is definitely an issue with off/on throttle abruptness. The first time I rode mine, I felt and experienced what most ride reports said. It seems worse when the bike is still cold, and less so once it is warmed up. First time I rode it, it was 52 degrees out, and dropping. :lol3

The second time I rode it, it was less of a problem. The third time, I was wondering if it was becoming less of a problem, or was I just getting used to it ? You either learn to be smoother with the throttle, or ride more aggressively. Sounds contradictory, but I notice it less if I just power through it. If I'm in slow traffic, and sloppy with the throttle, it can be a minor irritant.

Is it a major flaw that would keep me from buying it - NO. Would I like to be able to reduce it a little - sure, if it doesn't cost me much. :lol2

It's been getting up into the mid 80s for at least a week now.

So naturally, when I got home, I saw a text message from my dealer. Previously backordered heated grips are in. :lol3

I have no idea what kind of throttle set up the RS uses, but if it is a cable down to the throttle bodies like on my Super Tenere, eliminating most -- not all -- of the free play in the throttle cable made that bike much easier to ride smoothly. Problem was that there was clearly a 'delay' in throttle engagement due to the free play, but with the free play minimized the problem was 95% eliminated and only required a slight amount of almost unconscious finesse whereas previously you really had to concentrate to not have the throttle application upset the bike. If RS is not cable throttle operated, please disregard. I think some of the aftermarket engine tune software can help tune out most if not all of the snatchiness. Y'all might learn a lot from owners of early production FZ-09s as they went through this too...

And mine as delivered had very little throttle play.

There is a little more play now that I'm getting close to the 1st service. I intend to adjust that when I do the oil change, but I do feel that it is mostly due to meeting the tightening emission standards.

Don't have an RS - just guessing here. But I have ridden and greatly enjoyed a z900 - honestly the best fueling I have encountered with FI. I wonder - for you that have them - is this an every gear thing, engine braking into a turn and wot on exit in say 3rd gear? Or simply off the line due partially to the lower 1st gear?

It occurs in every gear, but the effect is softened in the higher gears.

Sounds like this bike will benefit from a commander of some sort. No doubt lean as hell

The shitty throttle is a deal breaker for me and blaming emissions is a cop out. Tons of new bikes with perfect fueling including the regular Z900. No excuse for it. Yamaha is definitely the worst manufacture for this. My FZ07 and FJ09 would still surprise me with a low speed lunge every now & again even after spending a couple hundred bucks on a re-flash. I'm not new, been riding for 40+ years.
