Anyone have something to share about KTM's 1290 Super Adventure R My Ride app? My dealer can't answer a thing, so I'm hoping to find some answers here, even though there doesn't seem to be a thread on this subject yet.

0- How well does the MY RIDE mapping system work compared to other handheld/phone gps mapping systems?
1- Can the SAR run Google Maps or other mapping system via my phone through the My Ride app/ through the dashboard display?
2- How would I keep the software updated? If I buy a 2017 1290 Super Adventure R with the Travel Pak and My Ride app, do the dealers automatically update the software for free?
3- Does the My Ride app calculate traffic delays, automatically re-route, offer optional toll road routes, etc. ?

Plenty of info in this thread http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/ktm-my-ride.1222586/ and here https://www.ktm.com/my-ride/

    To answer your basics -
0 - On bike dash it's Turn by Turn display not real mapping.
    1 - No.
2 - Both, dealer and app store for navigation app
3 - Yes, It is made by Here maps aka Nokia maps.

The app shows proper maps also but bike dash shows turn by turn and arrival time etc.

Works 100% and very accurate. No need for any more info on the display.

0-The mapping system has nothing to do with KTM My Ride itself, it is the cellphone apps which is doing the job and it is fine. However, if you want to use offline maps, you have no flexibility to store maps on external media. This is a major issue in my case since my memory is tight. I should have installed the external media as memory extension, which I didn't because I was always capable to store anything I wish on the external media by selecting it in the other apps. The Android KTM My Ride apps doesn't offer this functionality. Also, you cannot build your trip from computer application or import other popular formats, this is really annoying.
1-No and this is unfortunate since I have a very good one for which I already have maps downloaded. With KTM My Ride, you need to download their maps instead of using maps you already downloaded for other gps mapping systems. This is a waste of storage.
2-Dealership and apps site. My cellphone application has been updated a couple of times since I installed it in March. And the dealership did update my 2017 version to 2018.
3-I was never able to make it working with the KTM Dash Display. It simply doesn't work at all. On the cellphone, I can see everything fine which is useless when on the road.

After owning for a couple months,
It seems on par with Google Maps, which is my primary mapping system. I would have liked a graphic map option on the display instead of just the turn-by-turn written display. The app puts a hefty drain on the phone battery, but I would likely be playing music and mapping via the phone anyways if I were in a car. With the 12v right there below the display, it's no biggie. Updating a long time since one of my local dealers (the one who sold me the bike) didn't have the right equipment to do it. Their sister location 20 miles away had the equipment though, and that brought everything into alignment (around the same time the My Ride app was finally downloadable again through Google Play). Not sure if it was a KTM corporate issue for equipment distribution or a dealer-specific issue.
