oops I was wrong... KTM does still have the word "Trials" in their marketing...

"Trial, meet Enduro. World, meet your conqueror" - hope they don't mean they are looking to have Enduro bikes wipe Trials bikes off the map.

That top one, was the post I went by, I didn't mean you thought the sport of trials would necessarily grow, but you stated in the post they (KTM's) couldn't help but be easy sell, which I wrote my reply to. I didn't come to argue anything other than just because there is a store, that it will sell, not in the USA. We're too small, some day that might change, but with the way BLM keeps stealing off-roading areas, could be never.

One point I think worth mentioning is that when KTM enter a market segment they play to win. If they were to launch a trials bike line, they would back it up with a full-court press in trials competition. More professional trials teams means more trials riders making a living from the sport, instead of having to bail on trials and go ride EnduroCross.

KTM could enter the trials market and dominate it within a few years if they wanted.
Yes, they do have cash to burn and are running at the top of almost every endeavor that they have entered. In the past few years they have developed and are racing a MotoGP bike. The former old Penton company is racing Moto GP. Crazy, huh?

    https://image.redbull.com/rbcom/010...otogp-red-bull-ktm-team-presentation-2017.jpg

They were laughed at maybe five years ago when they got serious about SX. They hired Roger DeCoster and some great riders. They (and their "other company" Husqvarna) are now dominating it.

They stuck with 2 strokes when everyone else was dumping them. They have pretty much perfected the extreme off road bike and are killing national enduro, extreme enduro, enduro cross, national hare and hound, Dakar, etc, etc.
Look at what bikes are entered in Erzberg and what bike podium every year.

I'm not saying that they will or will not get into trials, but if they do, it will be a game changer just like everything that they have done for the last 10 years.

Personally, I would look hard at one because I already own 2 and know the engineering quality that goes into them and the passion of the company.

My local KTM dealer is also a Honda dealer, they sold 10 4RT’s the first year and one the second year..think all the pumpkin pilots that want a trials bike around here have one now. :D

I hate ktm but agree if they ever build a trials it would be an instant hit.
They would employ bou or maybe have Jarvis step up.
    ktm is a cult.
The way they treated Italian husky workers was ......
    Not to mention Husqberg.

A cult? Weird, I didn't even get a funny haircut or anything when I bought my KTM..... :)

I have been racing enduros for 20 years (17 of them in the A class) and have rode Kawasaki's, Yamaha's, Gas Gas and now have owned 3 KTM's since 2015. I look back on my racing and wonder why I didn't buy one way back then instead of finally caving in 2015. I have rode Husabergs, Husqvarna (before KTM bought them), Sherco, and all of the others and the KTM just beats the other bikes in many aspects.

I posted on Robbie Hawkins FB post about this and said, just the KTM dealer network and the ability to get parts nearly anywhere would be enough to propel them nearly to the top is a short time.

I have a Sherco 300ST and am relatively new to the trials world. I tried getting into it about 10 years ago with a GG and ran into a lot of the same stuff then as I am now. I have no local dealers or support. The Sherco dealers I DO know aren't storefronts or shops, they are guys who love the sport who happen to sell a few bikes or parts every year.

Put one KTM trials bike in every dealership and that would probably equal the total number of trials bikes currently sold per year in this country. Get 10% of them to an event and retain 3-5% of that number and trials would likely double in size in 5 years.

Anyhow, I am glad to have found this group on here. It seems to be the most active trials group I have found so far. I hope to read up and learn from you guys. I have already been through all 50+ pages of backyard trials courses and am hoping to build something nice here at my house to ride.

Did I really just hear 'have Jarvis step up' in regards to moving to trials? Really? Alternate universe says what?

Jarvis is ktm's ace in the hole.
I have the utmost respect for the man.
I would love to see him return to trials and dominate bou.

Yes, I am familiar with Trials Inc. and have a couple friends in the club. I am hoping we get some decent weather soon so I can get out and ride with them.

Imagine 200, 250 and 300 KTM two stroke trials bikes with electric start, easy to remove if you don't want it but only a few pounds if you leave it on. If you're a KTM or Husky 2t guy you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Yup. Their current dirt bikes are significantly lighter than any of the completion and haven't compromised one bit of durability to get there. They can re-tool and make new models it seems like annually if they want. They don't wait for a five year model cycle if they have an improved frame, motor, clutch.....anything.

I know a few guys and gals that for various reasons would be all over an electric start trials bike. They could add that to a trials bike and still come in less than a Montessa. :nod

Oh yeah. An orange electric start , light, cutting edge trials bike. From a maker like KTM ? I would have to have one.

But don't hold your breath. There are proposed models out several years in advance of production. A good example is the 390 Adventure. People chomping at the bit to have one, KTM teases the market about it, but no production for years. Imagine a lightweight around-the-world dirtbike !

If KTM introduced a trials model, I think it would dominate in a year or two. It would add to the interest in trials, enough so that the other manufacturers would not necessarily lose much in sales. Interest in trials could increase 50% easily. There are a lot of old (fast) guys out there who will be rethinking how hard a crash they want to risk. Moving from a KTM enduro to a KTM trials would be natural.
