One Unknown museum is the one in Jackson barracks really neat and cool nothing compared to the WW2 museum but worth a little detour. If you don't have base access shoot me a message and I can get you on.

Hey Sportsbud, I am ready for another ride if we can get Weave to show us those great roads again.

Wouldn't mind another ride before I deploy next month.

Does anyone know of any local riding clinics / classes dedicated to dual sport / off-road riding? I'd venture to Texas or MS for a good one. Really looking to learn some more as I tend to ride solo.

Dude, you have no clue what is going on here, not the tiniest shred of a clue. "lighten up" sounds awesome, maybe a few months from now we will entertain that thought. Sorry but my viewpoint is a little different than yours. Hope y'all never experience this.

FYI Sportsbud is in the Louisiana National Guard and I am not 100% sure, but he is most likely in Texas assisting.

    I know Sportsbud, he's a good dude.
And yes probably getting deployed to assist in west LA or even TX.
As a flood victim myself, last year we lost most everything downstairs (luckily we had bedrooms upstairs to live in for the next 8 months), so yes I understand the situation and the strain and stress on everyone impacted.
Our hearts go out to them, we are sending goods and support.

Yes - The jetski comment probably a little too soon, but don't hate on him, he's a good guy who will gladly help any person in need.

Actually guys I'm about to get deployed to the sandbox, so I'm not in TX currently but I almost went. It's just so close to my mobilization date that they don't pull us unless it's absolutely necessary. Oddly my mob training is in TX. And I won't apologize for the comment, it's a bit soon but humor is necessary in a dark situation but a sense of humor is not a one size fits all thing.

Just a post to announce that yet another n00b has joined. I'm from the Baton Rouge area and recently acquired a pre-broken-in 2006 BMW R1200GSA that I'm diligently trying to get myself killed or maimed on...

Hello TrailDamage, welcome to the asylum. Try not to get too hurt, sooner or later someone will likely post up a gathering in the area. Then you can meet some of the other inmates from around here. Keep an eye on this thread.

Take things slow and wear safety gear. Since I am too green to be giving any more advice than that, welcome aboard.

Thank you for the welcome EnduroRdr and Specularius. Good advice from both and yes, I ride AGAT - All Gear All the Time... I'm a bit impulsive and a (calculated) risk taker so I've learned to be prepared for the worst. I also know first hand that my gear works!

I grew up in Prairieville/Galves area (way back in the 80's), but haven't been in Ascension much at all in the last 20 years. I wouldn't mind a guided tour around - I know it has changed allot since they paved Joe Sevario Road (yeah, it's been awhile)....

I work an odd shift rotation and currently will be off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the next four weeks. After that I'll be off Saturdays and Sundays for four weeks...
