    Well played sir!
Do something very nice for the wife - sets you up in a good position to make your move for what you want.
I use this tactic constantly -
Why do you think I sent the wife on Vacation to CA for a week in July - two weeks before I put down the deposit on the Beta?
    Its a game of Chess.

Don’t need no doctrine to play this game wisely! Even a dumb truck driver knows.

Am i the only one that thinks Doc is using us for either a social experiment or as a research project?
Hopefully one day you'll write a book that talks all about how screwed up and disjointed we all are, with the final conclusion that as riders, we are by far the most sane group of people out there.
    I'd buy a copy.

Ok, here is some facts for you. And this does NOT apply to you - but some general facts.
The Profession/ education that has hands down the most "Marital Dissatisfaction" and divorce rates is People who hold Engineering Degrees.
It has long been known in the Mental Health Community and its an "inside Joke" that we all say "oh fuck" when we look at an intake sheet and see the profession listed as "engineering".
There was a time last year where I was involved with 6 divorce cases, all 6 involved men with advanced engineering degrees.

Without writing a book here on the explanation- to sum it up in Layman's terms- The human brian is very specialized - and the more it is specialized in one area, the more it lacks in others. There are very few people that are great at many things. Most of us 9/10 are very bright is one/two areas- then we lack in the other areas.
again the "smarter" you are in one areas - the more lacking you are in other.
So the direct opposite of "engineering" IQ side of the brain is the "emotional/social" IQ side. So (in general) very powerful and high Mechanical/Engineering IQ often is accompanied by very low emotional/ social IQ. Just think of some of the guys around here ! and it works vise versa- i.e "me".

sure you don't want me working on your bike. but at the same time , would you want to be on a team at work, or have a meaningful/deep conversation with some of the "mechanical" types you know. Or would you rather the more "Mechanical types" talking to the Toys for tots people and the Rich family for us ? -

So you get a guy with the "engineer /mechanical brain and imagine him trying to relate to his wife- who wants to have deep conversations and talk about "feelings" etc.
Many of these guys literally don't have the "software" in their heads to relate to people (their wife and children) on an emotional level - it becomes a huge problem over time and leads to a lot of problems- and then people like me, you know- the people who can't use a screwdriver, have to teach these high IQ engineers how have basic conversations with people .

PS- we have contracts with a bunch of the tech companies around the area here- because what happens is these "high tech" employees get hired and then the company figures out that while these guys have a freaking PHD in advanced engineering - they can't talk to another human being much less work as part of a team without pissing everyone off ! So we have to work with these genius on how to "talk to each other".
