    I'm liking it so far.

I was on the I-10 today to stretch her legs and boy can she! I'll give my opinion in a couple of days, for now she has a little over 1,600 miles...

Dave, I'll be in Kissimmee for a while visiting family and I'm thinking about heading to Key West for Mile Marker 0 and the Southern Most Point...

I got up early at 6 am to get a head start on packing and noticed it was still dark out probably because of the Mountain Time Zone. I expected the tent to be drenched from the dew and sure enough it was. I packed what I could and waited for the sun to rise at about 7 am. The heat tab was slow to rise above the trees and 8:30 rolls around and said "screw it" and packed the tent damp. Taking off I could still smell the poop in the air and said to myself "I'm not coming back to this place" and not more than two minutes on AZ-84 I come across a milk farm that had four huge cow pens... cows as far as the eye can see... who knew???

I make it to Casa Grande for some McD's breakfast and it was decision time; go north to AZ-79 and into Globe or get on the I-10 and let the goose stretch her legs. I had read other ride reports that passed by Globe, AZ and was interested but I chose the later since it was already late and I wanted to see what she can do at 75 - 80 mph. I thought I would regret not going but was rewarded by exploring Tombstone...

This was a lucky shot to get all three in costume, just seconds before there were hordes of people passing by...

The rain and winds have been pestering me since I left Tombstone... I've only gotten to camp once in Gila Bend and the rest have been in hotels, don't get me wrong I'm lovin' staying in hotels but for some reason I'd rather camp out...

In the past I've always used either the I-40 or the I-10 to get across the big state of Texas, this time I wanted to use another route where I can explore and experience new things so I decided to ride on US-90 East...

The weather outlook getting ready to leave Las Cruces, NM... yup you guessed it - more rain...
    7.jpg

Hooking a right on US-90 East at Van Horn... (if you take this route gas up here before you continue, the gas just gets more expensive as you get into the smaller towns)
    7a.jpg

Rain showers were on and off across the Texas prairies...
    7b.jpg

The GoPro didn't do a good job of capturing the vastness of the prairies... it has to be seen in person...

This is a weird pice of art... it's called the Prada Sculpture in Marfa, TX and is situated in the middle of nowhere...
    IMG_0151.jpg

I found this sticker amongst the many locks that hang on the rusted chain link fence...
    7e.jpg

I'm taking the family here someday so we can hang a family lock..
    7f.jpg

I also left my tag as many others did...
    7g.jpg

Being retired, I don't pay attention to the dates or holidays because everyday is a holiday to me... I say this because I completely forgot today was President's day... another visitor at the Prada sculpture said they were coming from Marfa and most of everything was closed... "crapola" I said to myself! That means Ft Davis would be closed along with the museums I wanted to see...

That Prada "sculpture" is weird indeed. Makes me think of the roadside mausoleums I saw in Baja Californias Sur.

From what I've been reading, Marfa, TX is quite the art destination...

I wanted to stay here at the campground and watch for the Marfa lights phenomenon but the prairie winds were howling and I was apprehensive about the wind blowing down the tent in the night...

Since today was President's Day, each town I passed seemed like ghost towns with little people on the street - probably the weather as well...
    7l.jpg

I wish gas was still this cheap... the highest I've seen in these small towns was $2.85 per gallon regular...

I decided to press on to Del Rio, TX since everything was mostly closed and overnight there to get away from the rain and prairie winds...

    Day 3 stats:
    Miles - 480
    Gas - $33.50
    Lodging - $60.00
    Meals - $11.00

Currently in San Antonio, TX. I wanted to see the Alamo and Riverwalk but they would have to wait for better weather...

    Damn rain keeps following me...

You can decide if it's worth going back for , but , for me the Marfa Lights make my short list of Natural and Unexplained Phenomenons . There's the Moonbow I saw at Cumberland Falls Ky. , The UFO I saw at Silverton Lake , Co. and The Marfa Lights in Marfa , Tx.
    Life changing ? Kinda.
