I just want something simple to stretch over bars and seat to keep sun off bike while parked at work. I saw dowco makes a half cover but, I want even less.

I use that. It's fine for purpose but nowhere even NEAR waterproof-and I didn't expect it to be. Travels with me and does it's job. I spray it with Scotchguard before every outing and it works well enough but by end of trip has worn off only to be reapplied prior to next outing.

I use the Oxford umbratex. Good for sun and light rain, but heavy rains not so much. Made well , but the only thing I don't like is the fasteners , they are Velcro strips and kind of a PIA to put through the front tire and the two side fasteners are similar. Suppose it depends on the bike. I have a belly exhaust and the covers stretch point brings the Velcro tabs right where the exhaust sits.

I've used a sheet from a baby bed before. Stretch the one end over the grips and the other end over the rear of the seat. It did nothing in the rain, but would stay on all day in the lot at work and keep the sun off the seat and tank. The one I used was a spiffy Winnie-the-Pooh pattern!
