Sorry, I don't know how to re-post other's previous posts to reply to. Thanks Sieg. That spring and mill is a special place. That's cool that you used to be able to ride through there to Peola Rd. Did you ever ride at Ringo Springs when they were open in the mid 70s right off Hwy. J down the road from my property? A 75 mile ADV two track route sounds fun. I've got an F800GSA also. WE rode about 65 miles of two track with Link and some guys last month down to some caves in Shannon County but on dirt bikes. Maybe some of the same as your loop? It is hard to beat the single track, two track, forest roads, county gravel roads, and banked paved twisties of SEMO!

Jowannab, I like the Grand Prix pin! I didn't run it until I was 30 years old in '97. Yeah, dodging guys coming down those chat hills is pretty nuts.

Thanks Scrat Attack a.k.a. Crazy Mike on the Motorbike.

No 2degreesout, it does look like Seth from Crusty Demons but it was just my crazy friend Scrat Attack.

No problem GotFog. I'm glad you were interested and enjoyed it. We got the lead to win two world wars from that area and it was important during the civil war for the same reason. Besides that, it was a kick ass place to ride.

Well, I tried today but fell short. My plan was to wander south from Washington, then from Sullivan take into 185 to Potosi. From there Southwest to MTNF, get to Lesterville for fuel, and then Centerville for the Mill. I started late, and got to 185 and N, I think it was, and took a break on the side of the road. Broke out the thermos to warm up. But my coffee just couldn't cut the cold. I decided, after about 100 miles to abort and headed home. Damn. Beautiful day though.

Not much time left this year, and i probably need to table the GS for yearly maintenance. So, may have to bow out of MO tag till later.

Think I owe Seig lunch too, as I doubt I can get to that Buzzard Road you spoke of. I might have found it though on Google Earth. Just running out of time in December.

Hope someone can get the Mill tag.

I give you an "A" for effort. It may sit for awhile with the weather turning colder but maybe that's better. I hope the rider that gets the grab is warm enough to enjoy the miles of paved twisties (or endless windy gravel roads if they choose) that are everywhere in that area.

What a beautiful ride. I won’t grab the tag because I don’t have a drop yet but we had a beautiful day of riding. Lot’s of twisters and dirt. My husband and I took off from our home in De Soto and and headed south. After the mill we rode some dirt up through Mark Twain National Forest. Miles of dirt, oh what fun!

I'm glad you and your husband enjoyed the ride to Reeds Spring and Mill but I thought someone was going to finally get my tag. I agree with you. Lots of great twisties, gravel and trails. Enough for me to buy land to retire on down there. It wasn't so mild in Peoria today, 21 degrees this morning with about 2-3 inches of snow. Decided to bring the old '86 Husky four hunny winter bike into the living room to replace the worn out ice screws with nice new sharp ones during the Supercross last night. KIMG3309.jpeg

Looks like a nice ride to get there. But not today. Maybe next Monday if the forecast stays the same. Ha.
In the late 60s I was riding all over north Dallas TX, on my Kawasaki 175, dreaming of getting the bighorn 350. But working at Pizza Hut, and landscaping at a local cemetery didn't cover costs. By the time I moved to eastern MO in 1978, I was bike-less. :2cry

Is the Reed Spring mill at Centerville still the tag to get?

    Thx

Yes, Reeds Spring & Mill is still the tag to get. Go get it! Better hurry because my friend and I will be near there this weekend and I may take him there so he can get it and move it along. Too many great spots in that area to move it to.

What a beautiful spot. Well worth the effort to get there. I don't think it is ripe yet, should spend more time open for others to enjoy. !
I want to add my name to the list of visitors.

I believe what Got Fog is saying is that it's such a neat spot and area to ride that he didn't want to move the tag until others visited the spring and Mill. Correct me if I'm wrong Got Fog.

You nailed it. I thought you had mentioned also you had planned on taking a friend, and you and your friend might move the tag.
I am patient. However if someone else is eager to move it, have a go.
I hope to ride Tues or Wed, and if it is still available AND I find a worthy replacement, then maybe then it gets moved.
Now you know my intentions. Be forewarned though, I want to ride North this week. TAG might migrate towards Iowa

Ok. Thursday does look good. It's only a few hours each way. I've been on the busy side lately. Was at a funeral in Scottsbluff Nebraska on Friday and met a guy from Lesterville Mo while we were eating lunch. Small world. He lives out near Divide Co now. I dont think I've met anyone else from Lesterville. If I go, I'll be moving the tag.. Just sayin.

You might hit it at a perfect time. Bunches of daffodils are up but not yet blooming.
