The Africa Twin Slider Rack is on our website now. This product turned out great, 13 x 13 rack with 8 strap cutouts, RotoPax capability, capability to mount just about any box or case and a slick built in helmet lock. View attachment 895111
A friend of mine just bought a Tiger with the mounting system and cases. I have to say, very nicely done. Well thought out and executed.
'12-16 650 Vstrom? I'm looking at another plate system that converts from soft to hard with a Givi adapter, but I've always been a Pelican fan & I like your designs. Thnx Ps, if you develope for the '14 1000 Strom, I think the new 650 & 1000 are all using that same rack moving forward, so you can cover alot of bikes.
We don't have anything available for the 12-16 650 Vstrom at this time. It does look like the new 650 & 1000 uses the same OEM rack as the most recent 1000. We will be verifying that as we do have a system for the 2014 to 2017 strom 1000.
We did have a Slider side rack for the KLR 650 but it did not sell well, so we discontinued it. I think it was too expensive, so we are working on some lower cost side mount systems - stay tuned. We have been very busy this past year we added Slider rear racks for these bikes: 2013 - newer BMW R1200GS & Adventure 2005 - 2013 BMW R1200 GS KTM 1190 2015 - newer Honda Africa Twin 2014 - newer VStrom 1000 Tiger Explorer will be available in mid January and we already have a new rear rack designed for the new Kawasaki Versys 300.
Yep looks like all the new upcoming Strom's use the same rear rack and does look like 2014 1000 rack.
Thank you for the order, it will ship tomorrow, I sent you the tracking info. For 2017 we made some enhancements, removed some material on the sides and put a much larger radius on the perimeter. Makes it lighter and looks better! Steve
Yes, we checked them out at the IMS in Mpls. In other news, we have a new Triumph Explorer rack. Pretty darn nice!
Pillion Rear Rack for Honda Africa Twin For those who like to use a pillion rack, BRE's is now available at their website. Features of our pillion rack include 4.8 mm 6061 aluminum plate, hard anodized, chamfered strap cutouts, BMW style power outlet cut out, Rotopax mounting points, radiused perimeter, quick removal, quick swap back to passenger seat. The pillion rack can be removed in just seconds to expose a nice storage nook under the rack. Rack cannot be removed without unlocking and removing the rider's seat so the rack is locked to the bike. Our thumbscrews can be used on the OEM seat as well as our rack to simplify and speed up change over time. The thumbscrews are bright and large so if you drop one it will be easy to find. This rack compliments our Slider rack perfectly. Like all of our products, we did not skimp on quality and use strong stainless steel mounting brackets and high quality stainless steel hardware. Proudly crafted in the USA.
Just wanted to mention my recent excellent experience. I ordered a rack for my Africa Twin, as I wanted to securely mount a pelican case I had but also wanted the flexibility to easily remove and mount rotopax if needed. The rack went on very easily but when I tried to mount the pucks to my pelican they would not mount due to the ridges. Turns out my pelican was not the same as other 1450's with a different spacing of the ridges. A quick email to Steve at BRE and he offered to custom make me new pucks and ship them out. After sending the measurements and details Steve had my new pucks machined and sent within a few days and they fit perfectly. I now have my Pelican 1450 mounted to the rack. So overall fantastic customer service and an outstanding product. Pictures to follow, either here or over in the AT threads.
I just installed the rack today on my KLR. Installation was very easy. The rack is high quality and looks great. Steve was great to deal with....I would highly recommend and would definitely buy from Back Road Equipment again. Rob

I installed the universal rack on my Honda CB500X today. I absolutely love it! It's exactly what I have been looking for. It's attached directly to a Hepco Becker rear rack with a few spacers, bypassing their included plate. I'm just waiting on a 90* countersink in the mail... apparently I only had 82*.
