A few years ago I designed what I thought would be the strongest aluminum panniers to add to our product line and complement our super tough Pelican-based luggage. Building them and bringing them to market at a reasonable price proved very difficult. Then a few months ago I found this overseas company with a product that was pretty close to what I had in mind in terms of strength and design features. I spec’d out what I wanted and last week the initial order arrived. Here’s a look at what we have:

We start with anodized 3mm thick aluminum alloy bottom pan that is machine formed. This is exactly how I had originally planned to create strength in the area most likely to contact the ground first in a tip over or crash, far stronger than the 1.5mm-2mm thick welded bottom found on other aluminum panniers...

Next we have an anodized 2mm thick main side section, CNC formed with a single machine weld in back and an o-ring seal at the top edge. There is a stainless steel reinforcement band around the top opening to provide more strength in this typically weak area….

The lid is anodized 2mm thick machine formed aluminum alloy with tie down loops and built in carry handles...

Stainless steel locking latches/hinges that allow the lid to swing open from either side or remove the lid completely...
    [IMG] [IMG]

Nylon corner protection and reflective tape complete the case package.

The racks are stainless steel (no rust!)...

    Familiar Puck style mounting system...

Top cases feature similar design as the side panniers and lock on and off the stainless steel top plate via an internal knob, and a full helmet fits inside!

Lots of accessories will eventually be available including inner bags, bottle holders, back rest pads, and straps...

There is an even stronger version of these side panniers and top case: Tourmaxx –Pro. The sides are formed with ridges (corrugated) to provide even more strength. This was another design feature I had originally planned on. They are a liter or two larger capacity, and run about $150 more for a pair of side cases. We’ll bring some of these in the next shipment if there is interest...

We have a 5-point quality check process in place at the factory, and we open every box and do a quality check here in the US on every set that we bring in. Realize that most OEM aluminum luggage and some popular aftermarket aluminum luggage is made in one of 3 factories overseas. We did our homework, visited, and found the best producer with a very modern factory and a good group of guys that are actually riders themselves. Here's a link to a video showing how strong they are, they parked an SUV on top and then took the lid off... youtu.be/ljXf3-dS91I?t=57

Pricing is reasonable and provides a great value for what you get. $799 for a complete side case system including both panniers, mounts and side racks. $325 for complete top cases including mounting plate. Purchase from our website www.cariboucases.com or go straight to the side panniers http://cariboucases.com/Side-Luggage-Systems/Touramaxx-Aluminum-Side-Luggage-Pannier-Systems/ or top cases.. http://cariboucases.com/Rear-Top-Case-Systems/Touramaxx-Aluminum-Top-Case-Systems/ Right now we have side case systems and top cases for the BMW R1200GS (41L/38L Side, 40L top) and the Honda Africa Twin (41L/36L side, 40L top).

Cariboucases.com is now a 1-stop shop for Pelican-based motorcycle luggage, Commando soft panniers, and now super-tough Touramaxx Aluminum motorcycle luggage and accessories. We also carry Hepco Becker crash bars, handguards, skid plates and headlight protectors. Great prices and great service. Happy to answer any questions you have. Thank you!

China. I know, I wish we could make this stuff here in the US. I wish we still made all kinds of stuff here. I think we would all be better for it, our kids, our towns, everything. I dream about it. Back here in business reality, we have to deal with the pressures of today's world, or we won't be around. Like other US companies, we have our US made products and our imports.

    Hi Bdmoody,

We've never tried to fit them to TT racks, so can't say for sure. At this time we are selling as a complete system with side racks included. Perhaps in the future we can break them up and offer cases only. One could easily sell their existing set of TT racks and offset the cost of the racks that come with the Touramaxx side luggage kit.

Sorry for the late response, been a busy spring. I would like to see these selling faster before bringing in another boat load, so for this year I think we'll see how things progress.

If you have a liquid cooled BMW R1200GS, get a great deal on a full set of these super strong aluminum cases and mounts. Offering a discount while supplies last. We also have a scratched top case for the R1200GS and a super low price (email sales@cariboucases.com). Check here on our web site...
