You must be in a northern rural area or OC. Sales tax in my town is 10.25%. They get me on every purchase.

12% plus Carbon Tax + Environment Tax + Battery Tax + Tire Tax. BC, Canada.

The taxes on my natural gas for home heating are higher than the price of the gas.

Sales tax here is about 3.5% for vehicles. Local dealer does not add on fees so I could buy an Xmax for MSRP + sales tax, or more likely under MSRP + sales tax:-)

New guy here, with a first post.

Finally saw an X-Max 300 up close yesterday, it made a very fine first impression which lasted all of thirty seconds. That's when the substantial interference between hands and knees was noted. I'm 6’3” with a 38” inner leg, and no way will the stock ergos work. This issue happens well before full steering lock. I was wearing thin-soled loafers, blue jeans, and no gloves, so it would get worse with actual riding gear. Yikes! We checked the handlebar in the more forward of the two mounting positions.

The dealer and I are thinking about trying a 2” pivoting Rox Riser to raise the entire handlebar. It might mean doing without the handlebar covers, which may or may not look okay. But I really do like the scoot and sometimes you just need to experiment a little!

Maybe you can get the dealer to pony up for that, if you're buying a scooter that doesn't fit .

They just sold that unit today so we're waiting for the next delivery to perform this experiment. The dealer has been good to work with, beginning with an offer to PDI it so I could test ride. They invested more time today in pulling some of the plastic off to see what's underneath.

Handle bar plastics are highly over-rated. The Honda Forza 300 does not have any. Sure it is bit messy but I was able to rotate the bar down to give me more of a sport bike lean. That took some weight off of my back and put it on my wrists. It was more comfortable for me. My shoulders were hurting. But I am only 5 foot 6.

In the last hour I checked out a '15 T-Max 530. Another impressive scoot, very reminiscent of my beloved 2002 ash gray RST Futura...and not much smaller! But alas, the same knee up / hands down conflict like the X-Max 300.

That's why I think the Vespa gts is so practical for short to tall folks. I do have my eyes on the Xmax though. Unortunately no demos are around for me to give one a road test. I won't buy a pair of boots before trying them on. I can't do that with a scooter either.

Maybe I missed it somewhere on a previous page, does the Xmax have self cancelling turn signals?

Just found out that my local dealer got one in stock. Didn't think they were going to. I'll go look at it this week.

I managed to pass my learner's permit 2 weeks ago and picked up my XMAX in Bronze last week. I completed my first ever week of commuting on a bike and I'm loving it :1drink

I got them to throw in the USB kit and mounting bar that I posted about earlier and I've ordered the Rockform mount. I have fitted the bar (just two bolts with allen key fittings) but it looks like quite a job to get inside and connect the power up (the instructions show that you have to remove large amounts of the body). So I'll ask them to do it at the 1000 km service.

Good for you, troels. Xmax is limited to white here in California, but the bronze looks sharp. Let us know details of performance and comfort of your new machine. I have also gained a permit after not having a license for almost 20 years. Looking forward to riding again. Be safe out there.

I don’t have a problem paying the taxes if only the XMax was available here in Vancouver, BC!

Power Yamaha in Sublimity has one listed in stock if you live in that area. They used to stock several new Yamaha scooters but seem to have cut way back and currently only list a Vino 50 and one xmax

Yes.........the Xmax showed up on their website a few days ago. Talked to them yesterday and it's still in transit. I'll definitely go look at it once it arrives. It's funny..........I talked to them a few weeks ago and the guy that does the ordering said he'd order one for me, but they wouldn't be getting one in otherwise, since they haven't done well selling scooters. Wonder what changed their mind. Maybe they've had other inquiries as well. I live about 25 miles from their dealership.

I haven't been to silver falls in a while and since the gorge is still closed I might take a trip down when they get it in stock to take a look and have a sit on it. I'm not really in the market though, just curious.
