Anyone care to guess where this is?
Merriweather Lewis on the Trace?
Rode the Trace from Cherokee up to the Northern terminus in Pasquo, TN yesterday. Approx. 350 miles round trip from my house, taking in a loop of Riverton Rose Trail Rd. just West of Cherokee. Nice relaxing ride.

Heading to North Carolina Friday Sept. 22 thru 25 if anyone wants to come along. I am staying at the Laurel Park Inn in Maggie Valley. Meet up at the Jack's 36966 Us-231, Ashville, AL 35953 at 8:00 am KSU at 8:30. Here is a link on the Bama Rides forum where I also posted.
I'm headed out, probably tuesday. I'm going to hit the dragon then ride the blue ridge into Virginia.
Moto Gymkhana this Saturday in Leeds, Al. This is a great way to work on your riding skills and it's FREE!!! There will even be some free lunch.
Most important, Gymkhana is a absolute blast. If you are worried about this being too much like work wresting your bike around a bunch of cones at low speed, then you NEED the practice. With a little practice you get better and faster and then it becomes FUN
I'll be there. Details are here: http://bamarides.com/ride/events/gymkhana-saturday-sept-23-2149/
Street ride next Saturday after Thanksgiving. Details are here in the new motorcyclealabama forum which has replaced Bamarides: http://www.motorcyclealabama.com/rides/index.php?topic=2370.0
Street ride to Crow Mountain this Saturday. Info here: http://www.motorcyclealabama.com/rides/index.php?topic=2434.0
Hate that the Bamarides forum changed names. Now I can't access it from work.
Why can't you access it just because it changed names?
BTW, there was a good reason for the name change.
That's why we have smart phones.
Sites that are less than 180 days old automatically get flagged as suspicious, but I fully understand the reasoning behind the name change. The atmosphere of the site was certainly declining recently.
Also I'm going to try to make this ride since the weather this weekend seems like a bust for deer hunting.
True but I can't have that at my desk. That's what sucks about working in a DoD closed area. Can always check it while waiting for my boss to actually call into any one of the multiple meetings he schedules every day.
Ahhh, gotcha. Yeah, we didn't have smart phones when I was managing the crypto vault about 20+ years ago.
Winter is upon us up here in Ohio and I am in the process of planning a trip down to Talladega NF to spend two day's of big bike ADV riding the Gravel/Dirt roads north to south east to west in the ranger district of the map. I have made two routes on base-camp as a guide and have read and watched ride reports of the area. We canceled last year due to weather but this year I feel good about the month of January since I am turning 60 and have reached old F@&t status. One question, Is there two full days of riding in the forest? We don't stop a lot for sightseeing or photo's, Mainly just riding and enjoying the view of landscape at speed. I know the Kentuck ORV is closed but it looks like we can find some slop to splash around in. I do remember being warned about the Deep water holes that the 4wd's make on some of the off road section. See you soon. B.
Theres enough to explore that you could probably kill 2 days. The 600-1 and 600-2 will easily take a couple hours and they will wear you out as well, I haven't had the chance to explore too much outside of that due to time when i ride up there, but i'd imagine theres plenty to go around. Also TopTrails is close to there if you want to go there and ride.
I grew up in Oxford, a few miles north of Cheaha. Lots of great riding there.
Make it up to Jacksonville and stop by The Rocket on AL Hwy 21. Best burgers and bbq around.........:)
Ride safe and enjoy!!!
Ya there is enough. I have a large cattle farm in sylacauga and have farted around the NF a lot. If you need any help (like a truck to pick you up) message me and I'll send you my # just in case.
Just moved to Madison from northern Illinois. Don't have an adventure bike yet, but do have a street bike. Would be nice to meet up with some locals and learn some good routes. Roads around here are better compared to where I'm from. Looking forward to meeting some of you.
