The Westfest 2018 Rally is a camping and motorcycling meetup event which will be held at Ouray KOA September 13-16, 2018; Ouray, CO

Only street legal (plated and DOT equipped) motorcycles with current registration and insurance coverage or CO OHV Stickered are allowed. Each must comply with Colorado Legal Traffic Code and National Forrest Statute concerning use, transport, or portage of motorcycles in the San Juan region of Colorado. See to it the motorcycle is in good running condition, properly maintained and with essential tools and spares. Spark arrestor is required and no loud pipes!!!!

The resort is adjacent to lands managed by Bureau of Land Management and the National Forrest Service. Whenever entering the national forrest, it is your responsibility to know the rules and regulations governing the use of the National Forrest and BLM lands and to abide fully. Be respectful to other people and treat the environment with care. Do not do anything that will get the attention of the public officials and visitors that will leave negative impressions to the group or the event. Purchase a OHV pass if required and display it on your bike.

Participation is completely voluntary and, by registering, you take responsibility of your action and accept 100% of any risk or liability that you may incur.

Your payment does not include a guided ride nor an entitlement to a group ride. Thanks to those people who will volunteer to lead, help or organize a group ride. The ride leaders are not getting paid, so please give them the respect and your support. It is your choice to participate in a group ride or not.

Think of your safety before you join a group, review the ride plan and see if you or your bike fits in; be honest with your riding skill and physical capability. If you find the ride situation beyond your ability, you have the option to stop and turn around, however you must notify the ride leader of your decision before leaving the group.

If you prefer to ride alone, check in with your friends or camp neighbors; tell them your plan and the expected time of your return. Likewise, once you returned to camp, notify them in person that you’re back.

We prohibit the use of any illegal drug or the consumption of alcohol while out on a ride. Be considerate to the safety of others and think of public’s perception.

Due to the remoteness of the places you will visit, we advise you bring a Spot Tracker or similar tracking device, plenty of water, first aid kit, enough fuel and have the means to get you and your bike to a safe location or where help is available. There is no support vehicle nor a search and rescue team to assist you. The nearest medical facility is at least 60 miles away. Be self-sufficient, friendly and form a team with your fellow riders. A group has a bigger chance of making it back to camp or finding help. Lastly, always bring warm clothing in the event you have to spend the night when the overnight temperature will get very cold.

I, the undersigned, do hereby agree with the terms of participation and release any action towards the organizers and volunteers, from any loss, injury, expense, damage, cause of action, or any claim whatsoever, which may arise out of or about the event and my participation therein.

I have the consent of the people I’m paying for that they all agree with the terms of participation and to email a sign copy toK John Wood – jwrover@yahoo.com

The Siapapu Bavarian BMW Rally is the weekend prior in northern NM. Might be a fun trip to hit that, then finish our NMBDR to Pagosa Springs, Pop through Durango and up to Ouray for Westfest then decide if you have time for SE UT or not...Just say'n!

If you're wondering about the possibility of snow during West Fest in September...it's possible! I've ridden in 6" of snow going from Durango to Ouray in late September. If it does snow, which is a slim chance, it will melt off pretty quickly.

    W8NONU is not wrong...

However.... We who live here in the San Juan's year round can tell you that Sept is by far the best riding month of the year.
Besides; if it does some how get crazy snowy...We just ride a few miles West and make loops out to the Paradox Valley, Moab, Castle Valley area and still have a killer few days riding!

But I think we'll be in great shape!
