This is not a motorcycle-friendly law. Yes, I'd like non-passing drivers to GTFO of the left lane, but I certainly don't want to be ticketed for traveling in the left lane and not impeding traffic. Example: I get to "enjoy" 20 miles of Hwy 75N every time I ride into Tulsa. The right lane is grooved and impacts the tracking of a motorcycle. Not fun. Therefore I use the left lane. Now I'll be subject to a $235.25 citation.:baldy

Here is what the OHP head honcho has to say about enforcement.

They had OHP on the radio this morning. They said they have received concerns from motorcyclists about this very thing. (Was it you?) He said they understand the road condition issues and would not ticket for that - unless they are riding side by side and blocking both lanes.

Wasn’t me, but I’m glad they are hearing different perspectives.

Sounds like they are taking a common sense approach to enforcement. Unless you get an officer having a bad day (officer discretion). Looks like left lane travel will still be allowed in most cases.

If that's the safest lane for me to be in at the moment, that's where I'll be riding. Law be damned, I'll argue it in court.

An additional concern for me is that they will tack the left lane citation on top of a speeding citation. Not that I ever speed, but hypothetically...:*sip*

On my light-traffic commute home yesterday, I was trying to imagine all the cars ahead of me occupying both lanes and mentally cramming them into the right lane. Just didn't seem reasonable.

The bright side is if the left lane stays clear as a result of the new law, it will give us a quick path of escape from any trouble.

They also said it wouldn't be strictly enforced during rush hour for this reason.

It’s surprising how many people mistake my silver state pickup with the ODWC shield on the door for law enforcement.

My wife was in Penney's Saturday and overheard someone talking on the phone, complaining that they got a ticket for being a left-lane bandit.

We were on the Creek Turnpike today in the center lane of the three lanes. A pick up was driving alone in the left lane about a quarter mile ahead of us, not speeding. An OHP car pulled from the shoulder and got in behind him, then pulled him over. I presume for driving in the left lane.

    There is hope.

I drove from Durant to Guthrie yesterday, and back today. Didn't see much evidence of enforcement or of people caring much about this new law. Damn shame that this seems to be the single biggest accomplishment for the clowns at the capital.

I haven't noticed too many people eager to get out of the left lane, but then again I think about what DD said above - there isn't much room on 75 at 5 pm.

If they could just endeavor to outrun the semi truck beside them that is literally governed to 60 mph it wouldn't be so bad.

Buddy and I rode Scipio yesterday. About 35 miles of nasty, awesome single track. Unfortunately my bike didn't make it out unscathed... Does anybody local repair radiators?

Scipio is a great place to ride. It's been too long, and I need to make another trip back!
