well crap. I was thinking I was in the Locus thread. I know you can do this on Locus. Not sure it can be done in Osmand.

If it can't, then I'd do something similar where you can drop your tracks folder on the cloud and copy the latest and greatest from one phone to the other.

I use "Route Converter" to change low point count (what has caused straight line tracks for me) into routes, then save the route as a track. The converter adds points all along the new route at user defined intervals. It produces an excellent track which can be tweaked as you like. Btw, the program is for desk/laptop and free. I'm sure this is a roundabout way of doing this but it works for me...

Just used OsmAnd for the first time, and am having trouble with the trip recording plugin. I can start recording and if I leave the screen on, it works correctly, but I'd like to record tracks with the screen off to conserve battery. I've tried going to the home screen first per the manual, but it doesn't make any difference. Any way to record tracks with screen off?

    Running OsmAnd 3.0.3 on a Galaxy S6.

Would there be a way to get aerial image on Osmand+ loaded for offline use?
Or is there a way to use any image over the map? Image ofcourse need to be bounded to cordinates.

Specially Microsoft Earth seems to work best at areas we are heading this summer.
And as it is Russia the mapping isn`t that good..

It appears I've found the issue, which was the power saving mode of the phone turning off the GPS, despite OsmAnd being exempted. If power save mode is turned off, GPX logging works while the screen is off.

Has anyone else noticed extreme battery drain by OSMAND while navigating a GPX track? I have tried two 2.1A chargers and neither can't keep up with the power consumption and the battery goes flat in about 3-4 hours even with the charger plugged-in. I have tried it on two phones and they both die sooner or later. It doesn't happen with Google Maps, Waze and Offline Maps & Navigation.

Run as a service. That way the power saver doesn't kill it on you.

Interesting, but after googling Service tutorials, seems like something above my pay grade. I've no clue how to implement such a thing; if you can suggest an easy method I'd love to know of it, but otherwise I'm content to turn off the power save feature when logging tracks.

In OsmAnd, or the Power Manager? I've already given OsmAnd an exception in the power manager, which makes no difference.

I see no option within OsmAnd to run as a background service, nor did I find anything on their website about this.
When I start logging, the OsmAnd icon appears in my status bar, and persists if I leave OsmAnd and go to the Home screen. According to their FAQ this is their background service icon.

I use Base Camp (on my desk top) to make my route, change it to tracks (.gpx in Base Camp) and export it to my tablet(osmand+) Took a little while to figure it out but it works for me. For some reason I have to hook the tablet to the desk top with a cable to get it to work. I'm sure there is a better way to do it.

With 8” tablet i’ve been satisfied with routeplanning in Osmand. In fact if I need to share it buddies with Garmin I do planning in Osmand and open it with Basecamp and then get it to their Garmins. I find it comfy to play with aerial images and different maps while lying on sofa instead using Badecamp with mouse on a desk.

I save my .gpx's in Google drive after building them in Mapsource, then on the tablet or phone l open them with Osmand. Osmand then saves them in the tracks folder automagically.
