Bike had been running fine, now will only run for a very short time (Fuel etc has been checked)
before it konks out, next to no spark present and very yellowish.
Once let stand for a while it will re-start but not run for very long.

Is there a known fault with the TCI or Pick up Coil ??

    thanks in advance

Have you changed the spark plug? That's where I'd be going first then check Ignition coil and the igniter unit. When I was in the army working on these a few of the igniter units failed.

Check the primary coil for specificated
    resista nce.
    ~
    Primary coil resistance:
    3.4"-' 4.6Q at 20°C (68°F)

    (EEl terminal - 8 terminal)

PM me if you want or need the manual.

Had a similar problem. My mech tested the stator and found the little attached module had failed. Secondhand unit from ebay (exxy) fixed it.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the replys
Turned out to be the Ignition Switch, only found after Coil, TSI & Stator had been tried (one at a time off a donor bike)
would have thought a faulty Ign Switch would have knocked the spark out completly as they say never to old to learn

Bike went to the " Not the Cold Flame " and back fine:clap

Glad you found it. Mine was cutting out like it had a miss and turned out to be a dodgy connector coming apart when you turned the bars left or right...Some elec issues can be a pig to work out and find:wink:

I had to order one in after market through Pablos Motorcycle tyres. He was able to get one through his supplier. I have a serviceable used one you can have for the cost of postage if you get stuck.:evil

Anyone finding their rear suspension really soft and can't carry any load? I am having my original mono shock fitted with a 20% above standard spring. I was wondering whether to machine up some 5, 10 and 15mm spacers to preload the spring if required. Has anyone done this?:jjen:mully

Hi all, I purchased an ex army 92 XT600E last year and getting her all ready for a ride with mate down the Darling River in 2 weeks.

The bikes great and currently at technik suspension penrith getting the forks and shock all fixed up. Its costing half as much as the initial purchase but I'm hoping its worth it.

Looking forward to getting out there.

btw I was looking into tyres and it looks like there's not much option. Does anyone have any experience with Dunlops D605?

I have a Pirelli MT21 on the rear and a IRC TR8 on the front. Both give good service all round. Have fun down on the Darling and watch out for the Bunyips. :evil

I had a 605 put on just after I purchased mine. Was a good all round tyre, did an all bitchy ride with some mates in the wet and they were surprised at how well it worked for a knobbie. I got about 2.5K out of it. Currently running a 606 but may go back to the 605. Have fun. Glad you're getting the back shock done, the oroginals are sh1t, I put a much stronger spring in.:deal

Ok so moving forward. She's all registered as of this arvo but will be awhile before any serious offroad work.

I've ordered progressive springs front & rear, Will do all the seals when she's apart. Put new manifold rubbers on & a new K&N air filter in. C&S will need to be done as well then she should be right for a maiden vogue.

This is a year or so ago.
