    Turn at Wirrulla Dave ?
Yeah, I’ve been through there on my cycle trip. It was a good road in ‘96.
We were going to go down the Eyre but now I am thinking we might as well keep going straight to Pt Augusta and then get north out of the rain as soon as possible.
We had clear skies for some of last night and now, 0630 hrs SA time, it has caught us up again and is raining as I type.

Grandson said he talked to you at the motorbike shop today.

Need rain badly around here, hope you brought some with you .
    Ride safe.

Hey Ian, how are ya !
    Long time no see.

Yeah, I dropped in to the shop this arvo because I was worried my Heidenau K60 wouldn’t make it to Townsville. I figured the shop was my last chance to get a replacement, seeing how we are going through Birdsville.
Early this morning I thought the rubber was disappearing a bit quick.
In this photo, taken at the shop today it’s done about 8,000kms. That’s a trip from Perth to Farina and return and then back again to Port Agutta.
(That accounts for the flat spot :D)

Looking at the pic the shadow makes it look like it has a heap of tread, but the middle strip only has about 4-5 mil.
I’ve done trips where I thought I had a heap of tyre life left, only to find the last 25% goes bloody fast.

After a chat to Josh, I’m taking a punt and expect to get to Townsville with it.

I’m pretty impressed with the life of these tyres. A bit scary in the wet, but hey, I’ll take longevity over grip in the wet anyway.

We’re camped in the Hawker campground and it looks like we’ll be running into a bit of traffic as we head north.
The Big Red Bash at Birdsville for one. School Holsfor another.
R.M Williams Way (across to Clare) was part blocked as we came past. Something to do with a movie being made. “Wanted” ?

    Wilpena, then Farina tomorrow, hopefully.

Now we are off the Nullarbor, I am not in as big a rush.
The sun is back and hopefully it stays that way, time to smell the flowers ! :clap

You are getting Good miles out of that tyre.
I could have used one of them on the 950.
Some great ride weather heading your way .
Watch the emus, they are thick at the moment

    If that's a K60 it's one of the tyre's I wouldn't have on the 950 again!!

I'll back you on the emu's though, everywhere to & from the Farina Rally this year but seeing as Mr Beak was there I think he'd already know that!

Maybe if you all keep bagging the K60’s the price may drop !
I overshot the turn off in Caiguna a couple of days ago, I wasn’t going that quick but the road was wet (rain, bloody rain !) and it looked slick too, anyway, I lightly applied rear brake and the rear started fish tailing.
So yeah, not a great tyre in the wet, but since most of my gravel road riding has been on big roadies with road tyres the K60 feels fantastic.
And I am a tight arse. I want mileage.

Anyway here are some pics from today around Blinham. We took a track out towards Glass Gorge (I think it was)
    Great ride.

Breakfast tomorrow at the Farina Bakery and I expect we may pull stumps at Mungerannie as we don’t want to get too close to the crowds at Birdsville until late Sunday.

At least the rain has stopped, although I still haven’t got the inside of my boots dry yet. :devildog

Another pic, I am only using an iPhone 6 for the pics and posting from my phone as well, it’s a bit hard to tell if they are any good.
I think the phone takes pretty good pics but the composition may be a bit shitty. I just point and click. I’m more into enjoying the moment than worrying about digitally preserving the memory. :D

If they're up at Farina/ Marree phone reception might be a bit sketchy until they get to Birdsville

i've got a K60 in the shed that did from Pt Agusta to the cape & home. Its sorta squared off a bit but your welcome to it if you need it for the trip home:1drink

Perhaps when he is finished with it I can have it for the OCR. It could then be passed onto the next, a bit like the rear tyre puddin....

Sorry Im bored shitless. 9 days at home with the flu is killing me !

I think that’s what it was called.
It had a big radio tower at the top and a stone platform with a big metal topological relief of Wilpena Pound.
    Pretty cool.

Yes, the last two nights. Typing this now in my swag. Gusty wind here at Leigh Creek.
    Swag is bloody warm.
Going to get up and see if my boot interiors have dried out yet.
Before leaving Perth I finally found some warm and supposedly water resistant pants long enough in the leg for me (Dririder Arctic 2).
Usually I wear some cheap ventedpants with an pair of proper Goretex hiking pants over, with boot covers.
This trip I took a punt on the Dririder pants and my 10 year old short boots from Joe Rocket. With no boot covers.
I’ve had wet feet/socks since day one !

I made the mistake of leaving the wet boots up near the head of my swag last night, the wind blew a mouldy cheese odour into my swag all night ! :rofl

    Mungerannie tonight I think.

Was heading over to Perth early this week and I reckon I saw you blokes somewhere on the Nullabor, in the four wheeled Honda, bringing more gear for my daughter and a holiday/look around. Safe travels to the four of you.

Just arrived in Windorah. Phone battery low and we are grabbing food before heading towards Longreach. Going to camp just down the road from here.
Birdsville full, absolutely full of vans. About 10,000 people for the Big Red Bash. The line for the servo for diesel was half a km long. Took one guy we spoke to 2 hours to get fuel.
We got out of Dodge as fast as we could.
The dirt from Birdsville to Windorah had another 500 vehicles against us heading in. Dust, dust. Hard to pick a line plus half the pricks didn’t have lights on.

I’ll post more later. About to have my breakfast (4:30pm:lol3)

    Here’s some teasers.
