It's hard to make out in this photo, but I'm assured the rear hazard warning lights were still performing perfectly at this stage!

Actually the last of the beemers being sold without electronic crap (computer, ABS, and TPM) was the 1200 made up to July 2007. I had one, and it sold last year in a flash because of it...

Another thing that I always found interesting was that for some reason they change the rake by 1.5 or 2 degrees between the 1150 and the 1200. It made a huge difference in handling and feedback from the front wheel, for the 1200 but not in a good way... The 1150 was easier to take around corner and on gravel...

    Thanks mate, great info

Very tempting offer, but at this stage I can't.

BTW do you own a 100 series Cruiser by any chance??

Yes it is my plan to ride one first before I decide.

Thanks everyone all great info, I do know of all the quirks that BMW has my 650GS has a couple:-)

Hahahaha, nothing that I know of, I was assuming you were the same Joff from MySwag Overlander and so on.

I don't go to any 4B sites anymore.

Depending what you budgets like, have a look at a cam head GS. They were manafactured between 2010-2012 with the GSA version running out to 2013.
I have 110.000K’s on the dial so far, do all the servicing myself.
Hasn’t needed a shim change yet.

I think it would work better if you Try to Learn how to Buy, or Learn to Try before you Buy, so not to do mistakes and trust people on forums... :lol3

I just picked up a 2005/06 model r1200 GS 114,000 K for 6 grand very happy with the bike to date but it has no service history. I have read there's some lemon one's around so like most European bikes it's luck of the draw. The bike is fantastic through the corners keeping up with most riders but they are a little scary on the dirt until you get some good tyres and dirt time on them. Overall I love this bikes long travel suspension it's great at socking up the pot holes as my back and neck take a beating on most bikes these days. The BMW R1200 GS is defiantly keeping me on two wheels for a few more years. Five stars from me.

The Kawasaki Mule FXT looks better:*sip*

I have been looking at an 04 model that's around that price, actually it's $6990 with all the panniers too and 108,000ks on the Central Coast, there are a few around at similar prices so once I'm ready to buy It shouldn't be hard to find a good one.

    Thanks, Baz.

Of the 1200s the cam head was the pick of the lot. Had mine 5 years and still loving it.
Previously has an 02 1150 for about 5 years, great bike and was very hesitant about the 1200s.
Granted, the wc make more power... if that's your thing.

Unless you're racing power is not that important.

I'm open to any bike at the moment(R series BMW) I'd love an R80GS if I found one in good nic and at a reasonable price but at the moment I'm focusing on the 1200GS, if I think it's to much bike for me I'll look at something else.
