what not to post in a FM ad?

This site has gone ZIG HILE! and is no longer the free-flowing communicato of motorcycle related chat it once was. This all seems to have come with the advent of advertising. an evil we all resisted, but apparently didn't donate enough over the years to keep Baldy's servers flowing and bandwidth adequate. So only one question remains:

    WTF?

As the site as grown, so has the traffic. You always have the option to PM. PMing does not bump ads off the front page. The FM is still free for members and the rules are posted in all the FM subforums, so they are easy to find.

We are all guests here. I don’t agree with several of the rules. But it’s not my site, nor is it yours. That fact seems to be overlooked by many today. I’ve also yet to see any of those evil ads that people reference.

My guess is you had a post or two punted from a FM ad. You get used to it. :lol3

I think folks get frustrated when ads are needlessly bumped with comments like..."nice bike, wish I had the money" or "fee bump for cool ride" or "hey Jim I can't believe your selling". Comments like these serve no purpose other than getting the ad to the top of the page thus pushing other peoples ads further down the pages. Heck even ads with bikes that have been sold keep getting comments.

Post's for ads in the FM should be "locked out" so they aren't bumped with replys. People can still post a reply to the ad it just won't be bumped. They are only able to be bumped by the original poster when the time limit expires which currently is every five days.

The FM isn't for chit chat, it's about sales.
Needless chatter like "What did you find?" or "I bet you would" just gums up the works.
Why would someone post that in a "For Sale" ad?
    Don't be an ass.

I went and looked at the punted responses to FM ads, just to see what the commotion was about. Unfortunately, I'm not finding anything worth getting your panties bunched up about. Help us out here, man, which one(s) made outstanding contributions to the world that the mods just ain't seeing???

When I am looking for something in FM, I use the search function.
Not only does it take me right to what I'm looking for, it all but eliminates bump-ups.
