I was just up there this past weekend and like LJ said there was a little bit of snow where the sun had a hard time getting to.

But for the most part it was gone.

I came across quite a bit of this when I left the beaten path.

And almost ran this over, anyone know what this is from? Bear?

^^ As far as identifying the droppings goes - I'm sure Little John will chime in on it. After walking many miles in the woods with him, I've decided that for a guy who doesn't know sh*t, he really knows sh*t.

I am pretty sure those are not LJ droppings though.

I think they are porcupine droppings. If you ever see one and have the time, you might see it go to it's den / hollow tree. There will be lots of pellets as they are totally messy housekeepers.

    Try this: http://www.fcpisl.com/
there is a motel right in town but that books up for these events very early. We got the 2nd to last room when I called in February :) The casino/hotel is just a few miles down the road. Haven't stayed there but seems like it's a decent place.

File this under: Things Learned While Researching Other Things.

You can purchase plastic animal shit replicas: Mammal Scat

They are pretty crappy, though. :hide

I now return this thread to its original programming.

just looked at the mammal scat site, it does really look a lot like moose, they have been siting a couple in forest county near Laona and Hiles ,, so that wouldnt be out if the relms if possiable .

fist thing I noticed though about the sire was no Grizzley bear scat! I suppose because its hard to get good realistic plastic plaid flannel in it! but the beaver scat is very life like, other than I have only seen it under water. LOL

ok enough shit talk, back to talking shit instead... Soo madwrench ,,, ready to ride yet???:evil

    I dunno.

JP and I are signed up, but it remains to be seen whether I'll actually ride. Can't get my foot into a riding boot yet - nothing flexes much anymore, and it hurts crazy bad when I try to jam it in a boot.
Plus I'll have to buy new boots, since my foot is now a full size larger thanks to all the hardware in it.

I might just ride in tennis shoes with a couple of pieces of 2x4 duct taped to my leg, carrying a packpack full of Vicodin and whiskey in case things go sideways.

I have an old pr of hi points in size 13 . you could wrap your foot in cloth and pack news paper in the toe then use a ratchet strap to "snug " it up around that hardware store you have for a foot! if that would help.

Hey gang, just signed up for the R4R and this will be my first DS event. With enduros becoming farther and more expensive to travel to coming from central WI I decided to give this a shot. I'll be attempting to get my KTM XC-W plated in time for the event but if not I'll be riding my commuter XT225 which has fresh shinko 244s (50/50 tire) on it. Will these suffice or should I spoon on some good used knobbies?

Thanks a bunch, looking forward to June--

^^ What she said. You could undoubtedly get around on the 50/50's since you're an experienced enduro rider, but you'll have way more fun with some traction.

Better yet, put some knobs on your '47 and be the hero of the event!

Thanks for the tips. My 'flattie' is a '47 Willys CJ2A jeep (flatfender), probably wouldn't fit down some of the singletrack.

    Cheers!
