Is the fairground where the ride starts called the Forest County Fairground off Madison Street in Crandon or is there another one?

NO. The ride starts and ends in Wabeno. It's just a small township fairground.

If you type "Fair View, Wabeno, WI" into the Google Maps search line, it will mark it very close to the fairgrounds.

I'm from Kentucky...weaned on cornbread and bourbon.
Nothing wrong with moonshine, and as far as the jug bands...well ya gotta do somethin' with the empties. And of course the toothless women are really really good for................

    ..............the denture industry.

My computer didn't know what to do with the GPX file either. Cannonshot sent it to me in a GDB(?) format that worked for me. If you send me your e-mail address I can forward it to you.

GDB is a Garmin-specific file, as opposed to GPX which works with many programs.

The GPX file should work just fine with your MapSource software, though.

You can tell your computer to open it with MapSource (choose it from the list when the computer asks what you want to do with it).

OR just open MapSource and then drag and drop the gpx file into it.

there is also free software out there that will enable you to open a zip file if you need it.

It sounds like they are able to unzip it, but then don't know what to do with the gpx file when the 'puter doesn't recognize the file type.

I think the final decision was made that there would be no electronic copies of the rollcharts - hard copies only, to be handed out the morning of the ride.

It's a good-faith and liability thing in dealing with the Forest Service, land owners, etc.

Yeah we had the same problem with stuckinarut's. I have a mac and they loaded just fine on mine. He had to goof around quite a bit to get them on his garmin off his PC???

    Yeah, I know....you Mac-heads have it made...

It should be pretty easy on a PC, really. Open MapSource, drag and drop the track file onto the map. Or open from the drop-down, whichever.

As far as uploading from MapSource to the handheld, that's a function of Garmin's software (which has never been great), but that, too should be easy once the software finds the handheld unit.

I've opened and uploaded hundreds of tracks, both GDB and GPX, through my PC and MapSource (as well as other programs), without any fuss.

We did all that, it was weird. Rebooted the computer, rebooted the garmin, did a dance on one foot, hummed an ancient hymn while chewing bubble gum and it worked :lol3:lol3 We've never had a problem before with any tracks so not sure what the dealio was.

Yeah, well I'm pretty sure you were stone sober for:

Sometimes I watch that when I'm feeling, you know, kinda useless, and it helps me realize it could be much, much, much, much, much, much, much worse.
